Don't really care about the match up but it is nice seeing a bowl game played outdoors in the north in the snow.
“Never trust a government that doesn't trust its own citizens with guns.”
I agree in regards to the weather, but it is two Northeastern teams there anyway. I was always curious to see how an SEC team would compete in those conditions, but the NCAA will never put them there. Logically it might not even make sense to invite them given how small the venue is, but it's a pipe dream. I want to watch this game due to the QB play. The conditions may not allow for a solid pass attack from either player, but they are both good draft prospects in a head-to-head match up.
"PSU a 3 to 4 win team" - New-era, September 2012
yeah, Yankee Stadium was definitely not built for football. I just wanna get a little sneak peek of Syracuse for week one 2013. :)
Nothing personal against Jesse Palmer, but he is awful as color man. He will not stop talking. Let the game breathe, man!
Just don't catch a TD pass in the corner of the end zone. You will get injured hitting the bleachers. Syracuse is vastly improved from years past.
Syracuse will be totally different next year. Lemon gone; two OL men gone; will more than likely be breaking in a new QB too boot.
yeah, it's hard to tell how good guys are with these conditions, but that's kinda what I figured by looking at the depth chart. QB, 2 WR, 2 OL all gone on their offense. RBs will still be around, but I trust our defense to shut them down - especially in week one when all their new offensive players are still gonna be figuring things out.
Syracuse will be very different. They lose Nassib which alone changes a lot. They also loose their backup QB. They lose Sales and Lemon who are far and away their most productive receivers. They return their runningbacks but lose their starting left tackle who is a first round prospect. They also lose their next best offensive lineman at left guard. Both huge losses. Nassib, Lemon and Sales make that offense go. They will be one dimensional next season as a running team. At least early.
On defense they lose 5 starters and their defense isn't very good to begin with. Losing MLB Diabate will be a tough loss. He's good. They also lose two multi-year starters in the secondary.
I'd expect PSU to be able to handle this Cuse team next year. They are well coached but start slow and aren't very athletic at all
It is 100% likely they will be breaking in a new QB as Nassib is a RS SR.
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
WVU isn't a good team at all. Came out of the gates firing this year and then sucked the second half.
I was pretty impressed with the Syracuse RB.
the fact that people think Geno Smith is going to be the #1 QB taken in the draft shows how absolutely pathetic this draft is shaping up to be.
Who are the marquis players?
You have Star from Utah, who some think the Eagles may take. You have Teo (I personally would have him mid-late first round, but he'll go top 5), and you have the Texas A&M OT.
Very weak draft. Barkley now has huge ??'s around his health (not to mention I wasn't high on him to begin with). For my money, Tyler Bray if he gets on the right team and system, could be a very good pro. He may just be the best pure QB but has a LOT of Jeff George in him from the neck up.
ehh...I think their success was more of a reflection of the conditions and WVUs weak defense than their strength. They'll get some yardage for sure, but they don't scare me too much looking ahead to our game (especially with a new OL).
