"Penn State has taken a lot of punches in the last six months and it's time to punch back" - BOB
awesome - we need a DT atleast one or two in this class....anybody know if he is an early enrollee or not?
Here's a story on Webb from TulsaWorld.com...
Haven't looked at his film a ton but from I did see he has the attribute that LJ Sr values the most. Motor.
Kid seems to go hard all the time and plays to the whistle.
Here are some highlights from Youtube. Clip claims this is only from 3 games, so not sure if its a true highlight tape as much as any solid play from the games included. From watching it, I'll say that he looks like the strongest kid on the field on every snap, so its tough to judge how good he can be. That being said, if he is actually anywhere close to 280 right now, then I'd be impressed as he doesn't look heavy at all and makes a few tackles 30 yds downfield that nose tackles aren't supposed to make. I'd agree with the above comment on the motor and he seems like he plays nasty which in my opinion is a great attribute of a nose tackle. Would need to get some more weight on for B1G level and may take some time to develop since his competition isn't the greatest.
Zach Webb #54 starting left tackle and nose guard for Metro Christian Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Some clips from his 2011 Junior season, Zach is class of 2013. Only 3 games included in this video too.
Any relation to Greg???
Is it just me or does his profile pic look like Todd from Breaking Bad? Just filled out quite a bit more...
He also looks like Landry from Friday Night Lights.
Same guy...and this is the first thing I thought when I saw his picture. Glad I'm not the only one.
This is a LONG shot, however glad the staff is taking it. If anyone can dig a kid like this out it's LJ.
Well, we'd (and ya know another school) have to offer before I'd start worrying about that.
Agreed. Based off the fact he has no offers, I'd like our chances if we offer.
not sure we need to offer this kid. just give him preferred walk-on status. he has no offers.
Zach wouldn't accept to walk-on at any school, he is just being recognized over the last two months is why rivals and scouts don't have complete profiles and ratings yet. He has full offers at the nations top D2 schools since last spring, but over the last 6 weeks has been getting calls and emails from D1 schools.
Here is another article on Zach, where he was picked in the top 10 All World players . The kid has a ton of heart and motor that won't stop. Latest highlight video from this year will give you a better idea than the one posted previously from 2011.
Zach Webb #54, Class of 2013 Metro Christian Academy in Tulsa, OK. 6
He looks good to me.
Thanks for the comments, bwsooner. I don't think anyone meant any offense to Zach - we're very much on the lookout for talented walk-ons given our situation.
I believe I saw that Zach had been starting for a few years. If that's the case, then do you have any insight as to why he went under the radar?
no worries, no offense was taken. Zach started as a sophmore on offense as a guard, he didn't get to be 6'2" until his junior year. He started his junior year on both sides, LT and NG. Had a great season with 94 tackles and 11 sacks i think. He has great stats this year considering he is being pulled in the third quarter because of blow outs.
I can only explain under the radar because he is from Oklahoma 3A football and we have all the way up to 6A? But Rob Boyd plays 2A and he was offered by OU and several others before his senior year, so I am not sure. I only meant walking on at Penn wasn't an option for Zach because he is close to offers from TU and New Mexico.
He visits Oklahoma State, Arkansas, New Mexico and possibly Arizona State before PSU. But I can assure you he knows and loves the tradition of Penn State.
Latest video of Zach, includes the whole season minus the one game left.
I like him. Great motor.
He's a high energy kid for sure. Has he camped anywhere?
So, I assume that grades aren't an issue if he is being recruited by Penn...BTW love the video. Kid looks like Jefferson on Fast Times at Ridgemont High...Also looks loke he could play either way.

I am mystified...the kid can flat out play.
Funny that a thread started tonight talking about RO...this is who this kid reminded me of when he knocked some poor kid out of bounds by about 5 yds.
Shame on me for NOT noticing THAT fact. Guess I just trusted the staff's judgement vs board members.
This last summer he camped at CSU, TU, Central Arkansas, Pitt State and UCO. His grades are good enough, he has Ivy schools looking at him too. Thanks for the video comments, I worked hard on it. He is being courted by several schools but no offers yet, except by all the top D2 schools. I don't understand it, but what do I know I guess. He will be at the Penn State vs. Wisconsin game on November 24th on an unofficial visit.
