With only 6 draft picks, we can't even afford to trade for someone.
I just don't even understand how the Bills are in such a horrible position. We have money, but not that much to spend in FA. We only have 6 draft picks. And we only have like 2 good players on the roster. This organization is just an absolute mess. Everything is a need.
Gerald Hodges selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the 3rd round... errrrr I mean Dannell Ellerbe agrees to 5 year/$35 million with Dolphiins
And look at how much money we sunk into a DLine that was one of the worst in the NFL. And spent all those high picks in DBs, yet they couldn't defend anyone. I'm just hoping that a lot of that is down to the Stache.
That said, I think getting rid of Fitz was a good move. My hope is they land Matt Barkley in the 2nd round.

His decision making was fine - his execution was poor. He can't hit a guy down golf because he has to put his entire body into the throw and loses accuracy. He thinks he can make throws he can't in the intermediate game. He's a good backup, but not a good starter.
Eagles sign James Casey TE/FB/H-Back formally of Texans. Bradley Fletcher CB from STL and Isaac Sapoago NT from 9ers. Patrick Chung S from NE and Jason Phillips LB from Car.

I'm not sure if I saw this posted here before or what ... salary cap website, pretty cool.
NFL Cap Space Estimates for all 32 teams in the 2013 League Year
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
We do an average job in the draft but have had alot of high picks do little (Aaron Williams, Kelvin Sheppard, Terrel Troup, Maybin, Hardy, Lynch, Trent, McCargo, Roscoe, Losman, Mike Williams).
Free agency signings could use some help, everyone we sign has an average career with the Bills at best. Shroud, Spencer Johnson, Barnett, Merriman, Dockery, Langston Walker and Florence come to mind as wasteful. Even Mario Williams is certainly not playing worth his contract right now and Mark Anderson is about to be out of town at the end of this coming season. We dont keep productive players like Poz and Levitre and Clements.
However, the biggest problem is we dont have and havent had a QB worth a lick since Jim Kelly sans Drew Bledsoes first season. A good QB can hide lack of talent (even defensive talent). Good QB's can score points and keep a poor defense off the field and they can make average offensive players look good. We have easily had a bottom 10 QB just about every single season.

The Eagles are being smart for once and signing low cost players. Casey is a good fit for Chip's Offense. Sopoago and Fletcher are both solid players.
I hate Vick so much.

With all that cap room you'd have to give them credit for signing low cost players at the very least.
I really think the coaching the last 6 years has been horrific. I'm just in disbelief at how poorly coached the Bills have been. They would just take players in the draft and then have no idea where to put them.
That said, we need upgrades all over the place. However, I do think there's some talent, it's just about utilizing it properly. Still not sure Marrone is the guy for that, but he and Pettine have got to be better than Gailey and his legion of half-wits.
So yeah, I think coaching has a good amount to do with the poor performance of DL, among other things. But at the same time, a lot of these guys need to play better for the money they're making.
Getting rid of Fitz was needed. Barkley I'm not sure about. I don't really care what QB they get as long as it's someone good.
I think that Nix and co. have done a better job of drafting at the top. However, they haven't been that good at drafting towards the bottom. I'm still pissed that they spent a 7th rounder on a specialist kicker who couldn't even do the one thing they drafted him to do.
They need to draft better, period. Filling holes in free agency is how you end up having cap problems down the road. I think we need to fill some holes with hopefully some value free agents this year, but it's mainly out of necessity.
They've really done a poor job of re-signing the right guys. Letting Jabari Greer go, but signing Terrence McGee to essentially the same money as Greer signed for was a horrible decision. And that's the sort of thing they do all the time, it seems.
Getting a QB ain't easy, that's for sure. But you're right that in the end, they need one, no matter how they get one.
If the Jets are realistic I think the Eagles will at least attempt to get Revis. That's probably why they filled some holes with inexpensive vets.

Even with all of his problems as a prima donna, and coming off of an injury...Revis is a first round talent. They should get a first round in return.
"PSU a 3 to 4 win team" - New-era, September 2012
Not when you consider how much they will have to pay him. And as eluded to who knows if he's ever gonna be the same player. He's most definitely not worth the 4th pick in any draft. Maybe the 4th pick of the second round would do it.

When he is healthy he completely changes the defensive strategy. He is the definition of a lock down corner. I am not saying he is worth the 4th overall pick, but he is worthy of a first round pick, even if it is mid-to-late.
I'd rather take milliner at number four than give up more than a second round pick for Revis Ill put it that way. Other organizations in a different situations may be willing and able to overpay but the eagles cant afford to do that.
I agree I think the Eagles went out this off season and shopped around smartly so far. I don't want them to waste cap room on Revis. Is he a great player, yes. Can he change offensive schemes, yes. Is he worth the rebirth of T.O. in our locker room....NO! I say keep the fourth pick or trade down 5-6 spots and pick up an extra 2nd pick allowing us to pick up a good young CB. The kid out of Alabama seems really high on the board for the Eagles and with the needs of the other teams right below them it isn't outlandish to consider them trading down and still landing him. JMO.

I think Casey is an underrated signing. He's a similar player to the guys that got them where they were early in the last decade.

Huge pickup by my Titans with Levitre.
Thanks Bills…62, any insight on Levitre?
Good player, but JMO $8m was a little too much for my tastes. He's athletic and great at pulling. Better at pass protection than just plowing forward in the run game. Struggles against bull rush. One of his very positive attributes is versatility. He played LG, LT, and I think C for us in his time at Buffalo, and played decently at all three positions.
Milliner isn't making it past Detroit at 5.
Agree here. Though I will disagree with NevadaNitt about Aaron Williams and Marshawn Lynch. Williams is young enough, that with good coaching he can turn into a pretty good corner or safety. He doesn't lack much athletically - and I thought Wannstedt's D really hung out his secondary to dry. I actually the talent is there to put out one of the better secondaries around. Gilmore and Leodis McKelvin are athletic freaks at corner - it's all about ball skills with those two right now. I think Williams can transition into a Strong Safety, and Byrd is an all All-Pro. The D-Line...it's impossible to be that bad, with that kind of talent. I actually think the Defense is closer to being good, and that idiot coach REALLY held them back. That defense had the least amount of adjustments, blitzes, stuns, or coverages. It was more vanilla than Joe Paterno defenses at his worst.
I'm hoping Whaley is much savvier with the players he brings, and how much they sign them to, than Nix. I'm glad they let Levitre go though. That's a lot of money for a guard. I'd rather some of that money go towards a legit NFL Linebacking crew (which they started doing with Manny Lawson).
With this draft, I actually think either a pass rushing OLB or a WR would be the best choice in the 1st round. None of the QBs are worth a top 10 pick IMO, and you never draft a Linebacker in the top 10 unless it's a 3-4 OLB that can bring a lot of pressure - and there are actually a few of those in Mingo & Javaris Jones. letting Stevie work the slot would be huge. I think the Lions and Browns will go defense, if one of Jones and Mingo are availible, I'd love to see the Bills snap him up.

For the type of offense that the Titans will eventually have, I think he'll fit in well there.
Pitt cut Willie Colon.
I think Gilmore has shown signs of being good. Like I've said before, I don't put much stock in rookie seasons for CB's - second year is when they break out. McKelvin is solid as a slot corner, so that's fine. We really need a 2nd outside CB though.
Wouldn't be surprised at all if Williams moves to safety.
