Love these new coaches...
New head coach Bill O'Brien and strength coach Craig Fitzgerald were on hand (as was the rest of the staff) as the Nittany Lions worked out at 5:30 a.m. Friday. Check out our highlights of the session.

WE ARE! And we will always be...
One more for good measure
The Nittany Lions workout - both in the freezing cold at 5:30 a.m. as well as in the weight room at 7:30 a.m. - on Friday, Feb. 17, while the media watches.
When he says conditioning will be important as we want to play up tempo, could we take that as meaning we will be seeing some no huddle offense implimented at some point
That's what I took it as.

Both of the workout videos looked like my days in high school football. Our coach believed that winter/spring/summer workouts, drills, and reps of the playbook made good teams....not necessary superior talent. The outside workout looked exactly like a typical off-season workout....our weight room workout was bench, squats, barbell rows, clean, push press, deadlift, and pullups (or lat pulldown if you couldn't). We ran 2 times per week, agility 2 times per week, tug a war/wrestling/competitions against each other. In his 10 years at North County High School in Missouri (1993-2003) he was 122-22 and regularly went to playoffs and won 1-3 games.
Parents hated the routines b/c they said they where a little extreme but then never complained when his teams regularly went 10-1 11-0 each year and won district and beyond most years. The offensive lines where very nasty....running game was mean and set up the passing game. He ran 3 receivers and full back/running back set 80+% of the time. His offenses where awesome with Welker type players.
This off-season workouts are a breath of fresh air. Penn State will be very different team on the field this fall.
Just wanted to pass this own....looked very similar to my high school days....
Success isn't something that just happens - success is learned, success is practiced and then it is shared.

Watching those workouts gets me pumped....can't wait for spring practice maybe O'Brien will open some of the scrimmages to the public
Love Silas leading them at the end, he is one special player. Haha also how funny was Bolden vs Zanatello
Even more from Fitzy. Man crush, officially.

Thanks for Posting those rmj!!
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
No prob... You can really see the guys at work too. Kids are bustin it... Can't wait until their weights start to go up and they are slanging real weight... And then the mass increases and the results follow on Saturdays. Gah. Man crush on Fitzy.
Look at the shoulder width on Jesse James when he's wrestling Carter. RS that kid, fill out that frame, and see where he ends up. I can kind of see why Scout ranked him as a tackle.
Who is the big guy with the short dreads? Don't recognize him from recruiting.
One is Evan Hailes, but the other one, who looks to be even bigger than him, I dunno at all...
72, why are you trying to turn everyone into fat and slow players?
Music on the field during conditioning. This has to be a hit with the guys and also decent recruiting tool to dispel some of the myths about the PSU staff. I know the age of our past coaches were used against us. This video will help show recruits that PSU is not as stiff as a board and can be a fun place to attend. This is a clever move by BOB opening things up.
Eric Shrive straight up dominated his opponent. Damn. That was brutal.
His lack of hair makes him more aerodynamic.
