If MD does join maybe they can take our place as the red-headed stepchild of the conference?
it's 9:37 p.m. and I'm still not buying this.
I'm with you. No way it has anything to do with you guys. PSU is the B1G. We love you guys. If they are looking at adding a school or two it doesn't have anything to do with your membership. I'm a huge sparty fan and my two younger bros are big blue fans and we both agree coach O'Brien is the man. Can't help but wonder how good your 2012 team would have been without the transfers. The next three years will be tough but you've got the coach, brand, stadium and fanbase to remain one of the B1G's most storied programs. A flat out anchor. No friggin' way the league wants you out. I would however like to add VT and Maryland just for the recruiting footprint we could all tap into. Good luck out there gents.
63 you're dead wrong ,this came from a Maryland sports writer, that was on the show with Phil and Jerry so before you post about it,get you're facts straight.
I'm struggling to understand this too but....UMD 247 site reporting "talks have intensified between B1G and UMD per multiple sources"
Then isn't he lucky that he wasn't the one who posted that Phil said it?
If you go back and read, it was proud who did.
Ok pencil neck.
The Baylor 247 insider was also pushing a ND to Big 12 story early this year. Not saying the Maryland is wrong but.......
Well you sound angry. I don't know why you would be angry. Just defended someone who didn't do anything while directing you to the person who did.
Just an angry fellow.
And pencil neck? OLinemen don't have pencil necks, hoss.

If PSU is booted from the Big10 with no landing spot.......this spells huge trouble for the program.
Not sure I would like the MD addition. We do very well recruiting in MD. Not saying UMD is equal to us but it could make recruiting a little tougher in the MD, DC areas.
God, you are one very naive twit.
If anything, I think it makes it easier for us to recruit Maryland. Some of those kids like the flashier ACC schools...UMD in the B1G makes that go away a little bit....regardless, UMD adds basically nothing to the B1G.
Nothing to worry about, PSU will NOT be booted from the BIG. I don't personally think Maryland is joining, I'm more interested in IF they join, who's the 14th team going to be.
VaTech? I'd like that
Rutgers? Not so much
KSU? I'd like for football, but they'll only be good as long as their coach stays
KU? Great for BBall, but just adds a new last place team for football
I doubt this is true because if so it would be quiet like Nebraska did. Both parties would be silent until everything is set. With that said any additions East would have to pay their way in. Under the current contracts no one does that. But was not there a rumor a couple of years ago the Big Ten could get away with expansion with a lesser candidate(s) monetary wise if they waited until the national contracts are up (which I believe is very soon) and the new contracts would be able to cover expansion East. Current members are getting roughly 25 mill a year. When the new contracts are up it will be a lot more. So if we expand with 14 and as result everyone gets lets say 40 million under the new contracts then expansion could be justified. Yeah- if we stuck with 12 everyone would get a bit more above the make believe number of 40 million but that is how you could justify it monetary wise. Everyone at the end of the day is getting a bigger helping of money even with the new additions. I believe that was the theory and rumor at the time.
There is also no way PSU is getting booted out of the big either. So downvote away for many of you.
says the guy who wrong about everything
It's 10:05 and I'm still not buying this. But, for shits and giggles, if this happens, the BIG just got a program that helps women's hoops; men's soccer; women's soccer; men's lacrosse (BIG doesn't have); women's lacrosse (doesn't have) and field hockey. UMD men's hoops isn't the program it once was. It's basically Minnesota maybe? Does that help?
What is the math of hooking up the state of Maryland with in state BTN rates?
As someone who lives in Lincoln I can tell you that the lead-up of Nebraska to the B1G was not remotely quiet here in Nebraska.
TVs are what matter, not actual sports. Now they get the Maryland TVs, but will they get the DC and NOVA TVs with it?
I'm still sticking to waiting for a much better source though.
