... The Penn State commit will miss the rest of his senior season with an ankle injury. He's set to have a procedure done on Friday and he's slated to be out 6-8 weeks following it. Allen said that it won't impact his preparation for Penn State.

Sounds like a high ankle sprain if only out 6-8 weeks, yes?
Not a Dr but don't think they schedule a procedure for a sprain. I would guess ligament damage.
Why would that require a procedure?
Sounds like something else. Too bad for the young man. Excited to have him on campus next year though.
“We’re doing things we couldn’t imagine,” says safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong. “But we’re doing them together.”
That's a shame for the young man... As a glass half full guy (and selfish psu fan) when I heard he was hurt I immediately thought the worse, so I'm relived it not "major" in terms of effecting his play next year. I'm glad this won't/shouldn't turn into a Mark Allen situation. That said I really do feel bad for him. You never get your senior season back.
Technically a sprain is a tear...degree or grade is the question.
Sounds like a fracture to me. Probably needs a pin placed to set it

One part of DTA returns and now the other part goes on the shelf.
Wishes for a speedy and full recovery for Marcus. Tough break to miss the rest of his senior season.
A bad enough high ankle sprain could require a procedure. Lito Sheppard had a bad high ankle sprain in 2005 (I believe, maybe 2006) when he was with the Eagles and he had to have surgery.
Getting hurt senior year is just the worst. I tore my labrum my senior year and it really dampened what should have been an awesome year
Like I said in my reply to PSUfan, a bad enough high ankle sprain could require surgery.

Man, that really sucks for him! Feel bad he is going to miss his senior season. He's one of my favorite commits in this class, and I think he'll have a huge impact at Penn State.

Prevented you from getting those D1 offers?
To bad for Mark. Maybe time for an EE rehab in a Happy Valley.
Would that really only take 6 weeks to heal?
As long as this doesn't have any long-term effects, I'm not worried.
Do feel terrible for the kid missing his senior season, though.

Two 2014 commits injured & both named Mark Allen.
I think we should pass on any more recruits with that surname. Bad luck. But cant wait to get these two Allens on campus next year. The PSU family wishes you well in your surgery.
Like I said above, Lito Sheppard once had a bad high ankle sprain while playing for the Eagles and was forced to have surgery. I'm with RWC, a fracture to an ankle wouldn't allow him to be back in six weeks. Maybe a fractured arm. But not a weight barring bone as small as an ankle.
Yeah not for football but swimming. I had to take a couple months off right before season and it really put me behind trying to get back into the swing of things. Still love where I ended up but it still sucked
