Pretty much expected outcome. Anxious to see how the team responds tomorrow on the BTN in their season finale. Then it's all eyes straight ahead to Pegula Ice Arena for next season.
"DOMINATE the state" - James Franklin 1/11/14
Regardless of what happens tomorrow this first season has far exceeded my expectations. I'd like to see them keep it respectably close tomorrow but IMO they've shown that things are headed in the right direction.
I had a Penn State fan and college hockey aficionado tell me Friday night that we wouldn't get a goal against Wisconsin because their defense is so good. From the looks of tonight's game, he was dead on.
"Wisconsin played really, really well tonight. We didn't."
"Youre going to take penalties and you're always chasing...we're looking at this as a great experience for us, playing at Wisconsin. It's a great opportunity for us to get information, and we did."
"We're nowhere close right now, we've got a lot of work to do. They're an excellent team, and they gave us a lot of information."
"I thought in the first period we played better. I thought Wisconsin came out, tried to make a statement early, and we couldn't catch up."
'Were you happy with the scoring chances?'
"No, no I wasn't. We got beat pretty badly on shots, and I don't even think that told the whole story. They had like five or six breakaways."
"The one positive thing, I thought PJ was fantastic, which is bad news for us. When your goaltender is great and you lose 5-0, you've got problems."
Head men's hockey coach Guy Gadowsky met with the media following Penn State's 5-0 loss to No. 18 Wisconsin Feb. 24, 2013.
Might not take as long as you think. Take a look at Quinnipiac, who just started to play D1 in 1998 and is now the #1 team in the nation. Got to think that PSU has far more resources than QU. And I know that State College looks a hell of a lot more like Canada than Hamden, CT does......
Andrew or anybody who may know........
Do you know when the 2013-2014 schedule will be announced? We already know that PSU will be opening up PIA vs. Army October 11th and also that we will be playing the B1G teams in our own conference.
Last year's schedule was announced in late May, so I'd use that as a gauge.
Kyle from @TYTBlog keeps a running list of who he's seen rumored/confirmed, so far he's got:
Fri. 11 vs. Army
Fri. 27 at Three Rivers Classic (RMU, Boston College, Bowling Green)
Sat. 28 at Three Rivers Classic (RMU, Boston College, Bowling Green)
Known opponents, unknown dates:
Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Wisconsin (two home, two away)
Air Force (two away)
Union (two home)
Alabama-Huntsville (two home)
I guess I just have to heed my excitement a bit and be patient. lol
