Live in the Pittsburgh area now and frankly don't remember whats there, any suggestions on a nice local place? Not looking for anything super expensive. Appreciate any help.
The American Ale House is my favorite.
Also like Allen Street Grill, Faccia Luna, Luna 2, and Cozy Thai.
The best restaurant in State College is the "Gamble Mill" in Bellefonte!!
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
faccia luna is good italian..something you wont find near campus
there is also a good mexican place out by the walmart on college who's name escapes me...
The Tavern, unlimited sides....Spat's on college and Pugh is excellent as well
Spats Cafe....above the Skeller.
I'd go with Spats too. That's a good choice.
Rey Azteca...really good Mexican food!
Hoss's. I dont have any near where I live and I go there every time I visit State College.
...and if you're not down with that, then I got 2 words for ya.."suck it!!"
I second the Ale House. I recommend the ostrich w/ potatoes and veggies. Also they have a bunch of different beers (obviously)
Agree with the Tavern.
Sadly, it has gone downhill.
can't go wrong with soup and a reuben at the deli.
Mt. Nittany Inn.
It about 15 miles outside of town, but easy to get reservations even on a football weekend.
Far better than waiting 60 min or more at the Olive Garden.....
fresh harvest kafe, allen street grill, downtown diner STICKY BUNS
I'm an Otto's guy. Anytime you get a solid microbrewey serving great food, it's a can't miss. The BBQ pork sandwich and an apricot wheat ale will do the trick.
Unfortunately, Courtney's recipes were trashed and Jeanne's hospitality was replaced with untrained youth.
Fonash and Kendeffy of Zola's fame, bought the Gamble Mill, raised prices and trashed the service and menu value. I truly miss Jeanne Murphy and Courtney. A real Bellefonte treasure.
But if you like Zola's in State College, you'll love the Gamble Mill in Bellefonte since it's owned and operated by the same folks!
But if you must eat in State College, Duffy's Tavern in Boalsburg is terrific. Kelly's Steak and Seafood in Boalsburg is very good too. The Tavern on College Ave. is a Penn State tradition (they take no reservations though!). The Nittany Lion Inn is on campus and is no slouch either. Oh, and if you have a few dollars to spare, try the Carnegie House in Toftrees (JoePA had some $$ invested here). It has a few tables, and great service and food!
Fuji Jade Garden. Good Chinese, good sushi.
Cracker barrel hands down.
I echo Spatz, Tavern, Ale House
Spatz and Allen Street Grill are my favorite.
I'm also a fan of the Deli...
