Word on the street, Gregg Garrity of North Allegheny High, PA is looking to walk on at PSU?
Can you provide some insight and profile specs on what he may bring to the table.
Son of Buddy Garrity? Car salesman and booster of the Dillon Panthers?
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
Been trying to get in touch with him for a while now but have not had any luck. Have heard he's a walk-on candidate as a wideout but that's about it.
Follow me on Twitter @Lions247
Wasn't his dad a walk-on too?
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
Maybe an illegitimate son of Buddy (Buddy, Jr. was his East Dillon son's name).
An illegiitimate child would not be out of the question for Buddy Garrity, Sr.
Answered my own question. Gregg the elder was also a legacy. Gregg wanted to go to Clarion but his dad, Jim talked him into going to Penn State as a walk-on. He was the starting WR his JR. year.
Who are these PSU fans that do not know who Gregg Garrity was?
I remember Gregg Garrity. And I'm kinda thinking he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated when we won our first national championship.
Yes, diving catch in the corner of the end zone against Georgia to sew up the national championship!!!!
Also ask Nebraska!
Sorry, went back and watched it and it was McCloskey who made the out of bounds catch.
c'mon guys.....you have to know who Gregg Garrity is! Tell me this is sarcasm
Younger and/or newer ones.
I didn't grow up in PA or anywhere on the east coast, so until 2003 the only thing I knew about Penn State football was that it was in Pennsylvania, it had an old coach who still had dark hair, and it had the best logo ever.
I'm always watching videos and reading books/articles, but there's only so much you can do to play catch up. So I can understand people younger and newer to PSU than me not knowing things from years and years ago.
Born and raised in India. Knew nothing about Football. Came to PSU in 92, as a 21 year old ME grad student. A few years after Garrity. ;-)
Adopted the PSU faith and studied my PSU bibles. ;-)
i hope Garrity did not read your post. ;-)
There's a lot of years between 92 and 03.
Disproportionately less PSU football knowledge for only a 11 year difference.
how many peferred walk ons can a team take?
One of my favorite childhood memories.
http://wpsu.org/psudvd Greg Garrity's diving catch in the 1983 Sugar Bowl was an incredible moment caught by many fans on TV Quarterbacks.
Joe Paterno's TV Quarterbacks was the way for Penn State fans to see their team. Each week fans could watch highlights from the game, get Coach Paterno's take, and get to know the Nittany Lion players.
WPSU is bringing the classic show back for Penn State fans on September 9th. Don't miss the chance to see big games like the 1983 Sugar Bowl.
all of them.
I believe he was quoted in a PG or Trib article saying he'd walk on at PSU unless a D-1 offer came in. Kid is solid. Was more impressive than Zeise in the WPIAL title game.
Yea, his highlights look pretty good on Youtube. Biggest problem is he is listed at 160 lbs, which means he's probably like 155 tops. Looks like he is very productive at the high school level though.
Not a problem with Craig Fitzgerald on staff...
WE ARE! And we will always be...
Actually, it's a very valid excuse.
lol, it was sarcasm about Buddy Garrity. He is the booster that played in FNL the movie and the TV show.
As for Gregg Garrity, he was a few years before I was even born, but have heard his name as I watched the UGA NC game a few times.
Tupac Shakur, a wise old sage from ancient history ( the early 90's) said : I wouldn't be here today if the old school didn't pave the way....
Allen Robinson says this to Gregg Garrity.
Not saying the past should be ignored, just saying it takes time to learn about it.
