From a very good source at McDevitt. Apparently yesterday BOB was in the Harrisburg area checking in on Nelson, AB and Issah. He was scheduled to visit Lamelle at McD but never showed and did not call to cancel. If they are not interested in a kid fine, but probably should have called to at least cancel. McDevitt is a school that puts out to much talent to burn bridges their.
Sean reported this last night that staff didn't get to visit Lemelle. Whether it was they ran out of time or have decided not to pursue him anymore is up for debate.
Who was the last big time McDevitt kid to come to Penn State?
Again, this staff gets the complete benefit of the doubt from me as a fan as far as how they run their program. That being said the previous staff pretty much had no relationship at McDevitt and by not at least giving a courtesy phone call to say they can't make it is not a great way to build relationships with one of the best programs in the state.
Not a good move if true. That said, with that school's animosity towards Penn State I also wouldn't be shocked if your source was getting the McDevitt anti-PSU spin side of this story.
"A lion does not concern himself with the opinions of the sheep"- Glenn Carson
I am a McDevitt grad and am very aware of the anti-PSU views at McDevitt, but this came from someone within the program with direct knowledge of the situation and no spin was involved.
I won't question your sources but I have more faith that O'Brien would have no doubt tried to reach out to this kid/family and let them know if something happened and they couldn't make it. Absolutely doesn't sound reasonable that they would have scheduled something and "blown off" the kid. His record speaks for itself so far in this area.
I understand this is a board that you can post your thoughts, comments and opinions on, but lets also allow for the oppertuntiy to have the other side of the story be told or heard.
...the call came from the other direction and Lamelle or a McD staffer was told to call PSU and tell them that there was not need to come in today, and the "office secretary" that told somebody who told somebody else who told you that no PSU staffer called to cancelled was incorrect.
...a Text messege was sent that today was not good do to an unforseen issue today, a test or other commitment to the school. Please call us so we can set up another time to meet and talk.
I really find it hard to believe that BO'B and his team would not have had some kind of communication to McD. One very good source is not alwasy the right source.
This. BOB and his staff work harder and longer days than almost all of us. I don't believe for a second they had such a big oversight.

Didn't McDevitt use Holuba two years ago in preparation for their state title game when Spence was a Junior?
I recall the story, and also that Joe showed up and stuck around to take pictures with the kids and the coaches, etc...
Obviously, the relationship wasn't great at McD, but LJSr has always been respected there.
This. I just cannot see them being that rude to any recruit or school. All along they have been building bridges, and something like this is just not their MO.

Noah Spence...oh wait, that was only if Urban Meyer came here as our head coach too.

he may have been in harrisburg but who says he was scheduled to stop by lamelle.
waz it anticipated b/c he was in the city area that he was going to come in?
find hard to believe recruit the kid this long then get rude to the kid.

PSU has to reestablish good ties with McD. Whether it is with Lemelle ,the best pure wr in the state, or other future recruits. No way one of the best football programs in PSU backyard can continue to maintain a strained relationship with one another. I don't doubt that LJ and BOB will work to fix that. I won't be surprised to hear that someone from the staff is in town for this evenings District Championship game. Now from what I have heard there were some other non football related issues going on at the school that caused some tension. I'm sure Sean will confirm something sooner than later.
I'm more interested in the fact that you only have 4 posts, 3 on this subject.
I'll wait on info from Sean, rather than listening to a no-name source who hasn't contributed anything to our boards ever before, thanks.
That being said; Sean, any input?
So if I were to just randomly post than I would be more credible??? Trying to figure out that logic.
I am a huge Penn State fan who happens to be a McD grad that still has contacts at McDevitt. I was just trying to pass on some information, not trying to create a stir.
No. You are an unknown entity.
Many chose not to trust people just coming out of the woodwork, would rather wait on more credible sources of information and/or independent confirmation. We have a history of people randomly popping up on this board with "source information". 90% + of the time, it is unfounded BS and meant to flame.
THAT being said: If it comes out that you were correct, then you gain credibility. However, if you make a statement and you are found to have either: received bad information OR maliciously started a post such as this with the intent to sabotage relations or to flame or stir up emotions unnecessarily, then no one will listen to you.
The point is: be sure of your sources as much as possible before posting said "source information". This behooves you to be correct, or be considered a flamer who will get down-voted every time they post like New-Era and some other people. For your sake, I hope your info is correct.

i remember during the recruitment of alex anzalone they put the wrong name on the recruiting letter. mistakes happen too no matter how good a staff is..
