You had to know that would be the first question.
Here's a bit of positive press. Much as I hate PSU being associated with child abuse for the next (???) years, things like this can help to flip the script, and actually make a difference for children, as opposed to all the other crap...
Rescued kidnapping victim Elizabeth Smart said Tuesday that Penn State's inaugural conference on child sexual abuse is a way to promote discussion about crimes that drew more attention after the molestation scandal involving former university assistant fo
Can anyone tell me if every crime in PA has a press conference AND a display with an edgy title?
Those who have complained about the Freeh Report should be glad this will all play out now in the legal system. Endangering the welfare of children and failure to report are serious charges. The truth will now have to be revealed in court. Let the truth be known.
My conspiracy theory. The current AG saw the polls and thought the Dem would not bring charges against GS. Therefore, do it now to get the wheels in motion.
Not true at all...it's the opposite...
To what are you referring?
Anyone have the time to read this? I skimmed through it and only saw references to the Freeh report emails as "evidence".
Three former top Penn State administrators – Tim Curley, Gary Schultz and Graham Spanier – each face five counts in connection to their involvement with the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse case.
Seems like the same to me
I apologize. I forgot to quote.
Not true about the LBU59 post above.
Democrats WANT a full investigation.
This AP story says the email subject is "Joe Paterno" but it's actually "Jerry". Do they just make stuff up to keep Paterno involved?
And how could Freeh even think that was a reference to JVP? It's obviously Jerry. Unbelievable.
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Former Penn State President Graham B. Spanier was charged Thursday with hushing up child molestation allegations against Jerry Sandusky, making him the third school official charged in the alleged cover-up.

That's all it looked like to me when they referenced "e-mails" and "hand written notes".
Seems a bit of a stretch to me. However, maybe they wanted to get this charge in now and then start more discovery and try to find more evidence or something? I have no clue how the legal system works...surely it's more complicated than Law & Order SVU
You do understand the difference between conspiracy theory and truth.
Just heard a quote from Kelly on the radio. She said in essence that these three covered up for a known child predator.
Point 1: My friend and I have been guessing this for some time. I admit that I was not expecting it to be a political power play, but this works flawlessly on two levels - political, and practical as far as the trials are concerned.
Point 2: Agree. They don't come just on the Freeh report. Unless they think they can dupe the public again.
There were two emails from Curley in1998. One had the heading of "Joe paterno," the other one had the heading of "jerry"
Some good perspective here:

Seems like some new stuff to me from what I've seen. I'm confused over the involvement of the lawyer in '01 where the billable hours were charged under "suspected child abuse" and then the inquiry made for the file re: the 98 incident.
I guess the part that blows my mind is how the report in 98 wasn't filed under a typical criminal investigation as to keep the media from finding out.
It just seems like the whole time all parties involved used code words to keep the media from finding out as to not ruin the reputation of the University.......
What a charlie-foxtrot
So they just combined the emails?
EDIT: OK, I see that one. Obviously Joe knew all about it then.

I'm not saying he knew all about it. He even said himself that he thought it may have been discussed in his presence.
But you know what? It doesn't matter. That case was dropped by the DA and DPW. I don't understand people's obsession over the 1998 incident. It was fully investigated and dropped by the police. There's no conspiracy there.
It's the same stuff from the Freeh report.
Absolutely correct. In 2001, they were operating with the only data from 1998 being that JS was exonerated.
Well then that should make all the "Freeh Stooges" and "Joe is a saint" people happy.
You couldn't challenge the Freeh Report in front of a judge but Spanier and the rest can all challenge this stuff or have it dug into even further.
One way or another some stuff will come to light
Now this is the way you defend your client. Very strong statement from Spanier's legal team. WOW.
If Kane is elected she faces a delimna.
Does she persue 3 unwinnable cases with flimsy eveidence andd look like a fool ?
Or does she drop the charges for lack of evidence and risk being painted as soft or weak in the face pedophilia ?
Either way her opponents in the Corbett admin. will state that they would have brought the "enablers" to justice just as they did with Jerry Sandusky.
