A blatant election week decision by Attorney General Linda Kelly as the final pre election act of her pathetic career? What is the play here? Is there any reason that Kelly would have waited until this week for this announcement outside of it being her last chance to act on anything as a lame duck?
Graham Spanier will evidently be charged with perjury by Attorney General Linda Kelly today. One year after she charged AD Tim Curley and VP Gary Schultz with perjury for their testimony about a 10 minute meeting a decade in the past Linda Kelly has decided to charge Dr. Spanier with the same offense although he never met with McQueary and only knew what Curley and Schultz had to tell him.

It seems as if the pittsburgh post gazette ran the story based on Sports by Brooks. I'll believe this when I see it.
Vote for Kathleen Kane for PA Attorney General. Hold Tom Corbett Responsible for his failures.
Momentum Mounting For Kathleen Kane In Final Week
On October 31, 2012, in Issues, News, Press Releases
Scranton, PA: Kathleen Kane’s campaign for Pennsylvania Attorney General continues to gain steam with the release of an independent Philadelphia Inquirer poll that shows her with a commanding lead over her opponent, David Freed. With endorsements from two more Pennsylvania newspapers, the Scranton Times-Tribune and the Erie Times-News, Kane’s momentum is intensifying across the state.
“Yesterday, the Philadelphia Inquirer released a poll showing Kathleen with a 20 point lead over David Freed, 49% – 29%,” said Kane campaign spokesman Joshua Morrow. “It’s clear that the more Pennsylvanians focus in on this race, the more support Kathleen gains.”
Independent Poll Shows Widening Lead; More Newspapers Endorse Kane for AG
Sports by Brooks is the biggest idiot around.
Things are about to get REAL interesting!!
Just a reminder that this isn't a politics board. If this one gets out of hand it will be locked.

This may not be the worst thing to happen, Spanier has shown he is willing to fight and will most likely go after the Freeh report and every one else.

“Never trust a government that doesn't trust its own citizens with guns.”
Not to get political, but Kathleen Kane has said that she will launch an investigation into Cornett's role and actions/inactions with Sandusky. I know who I am voting for.
"You have to perform at a consistently higher level than others. That's the mark of a true professional." JVP
Its tough not to mention politics when the basis for charging Spanier a few days before the election is strictly politics. why wasnt he charged back in November with the others or why wasnt he charged right after the emails xame out? Why wait for less than a week before the election to charge this guy? I think this backfires on Corbett & Kane gains more momentum. Good luck to her.
I'm curious as to what rationale there potentially is for Kelly to charge Spanier.
From what I've read Spanier has a security clearance. I can't recall what level he has. I'd imagine after this all hit the fan they (govt) decided to check up on everything and do his re-investigation sooner rather than later.
Not sure if this story is a bunch of hog-wash or what. In any case, I'll be interested to see how it all develops.
heard a reasonable explanation... Seems to make sense.
Basically they charged Spanier/Schultz so they'd be unable to testify at the Sandusky trial in regards to what they were told by McQ, basically allowing MM testimony to go unchallenged.
Now, they charge Spanier on the eve of the Curley/Schultz trials and in essence stop him from testifying at those trials, so again... they'll have MM v Curley/Schultz, word v word and one of the only people that could testify to it either way having his hands tied behind his back or risk his own defense/trial...
Spanier's lawyers are ready for this. If all they have is the Freeh report then this never even makes it trial.
If it works out like that, genius.
Also I doubt that all they have is the Freeh Report. It was never meant as a legal document, no one expects it to be a key piece of evidence. If that's what they are going off of, not good for them.
Sean for president....err sorry no more...
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
Linda Kelly just said a "conspiracy of silence." Here we go again..
Espn radio led off with it as a cover up. GS being charged with perjury and obstruction of justice.
And the plot thickens.
Kelly: "They all knew about the 1998 incident." Each man -- Curley, Spanier and Schultz -- have denied knowing anything."
Knew what? That the police and state officials said he didn't do anything illegal? I don't get it.
Yeah I'm so confused with all of this now.
Linda Kelly asked if Joe Paterno would be charged if he were alive today. She won't speculate. "He's deceased and that's the end of it."
Wow. The media is determined to drag Paterno through the mud.
