This topic could easily drag 20+ rb's into debate. RB is a deep position nowadays.

You're still a clown.
Lang, Burkhead is damn good. He's not as good as Ball, but he's very good. Silas is still better, but Rex is good. I could've sworn he graduated though.

Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
No, it's not too early to judge. Redd made a bad decision. He bailed on his teammates and his school. At best, he'll be the feature back at USC--a role he had already secured at Penn State--but he might not get anywhere near the carries that he would have enjoyed in Happy Valley. Hey, I'm not down on him....he's just a kid, and kids make mistakes. But that doesn't change the fact that bailed out for some shaky reasons.
Rex has 1 year left and needs around 1300 yards (match last year) to pass Ahman Green as #2 in Nebraska history behind Rozier.
I'm guessing you're one of the idiots who is tweeting death threats to Justin Brown.
Serious question - Can you even name Oregon's QB right now? DeAnthony Thomas will still be one of the best backs in the country even if a scrub is playing QB. You could argue he benefitted from a great system, but Darron Thomas wasn't exactly "great". His job was to take a shotgun snap and hand the ball off to the best 1-2 RB punch in the country. I'd argue that he actually regressed from 2010 when he led Oregon to the title game.
Most teams brought guys up on defense when they played Oregon and Nebraksa last year as well. Just as a fan of another team, I'd take McGloin to hurt me through the air long before I'd take Martinez to. I'd bet Burkhead ran against 8 or 9 in the box just as much as Redd did.

While I'll agree that Martinez absolutely blows at the throwing of the football, he could also run and run well, (Over 2000 yards and 21 TD in the past two years RUSHING) which added a dimension to his game and took some pressure off of Burkhead.
About Oregon: Darron Thomas passing in 2011; 33 TDs 7 INTs.
Hello Lunchables, Hello.
Matt wasnt pulling numbers like that last year on anything but Techmo Bowl.
McGloin wasnt spreading out any defenses for any reason at all last year, while at least defenses had to worry about the QB holding onto it in Nebraska or the Multi threat of Thomas at Oregon.
It is possible, that Taylor Martinez throws the funniest looking passes in the history of all football though.
Lets have a look just for fun:
How to throw the ball correctly. Get your notepad. Edit: Hes actually improving. #truth Edit Edit: Never mind.
where the heck do you get your drugs, even in NCAA football they have him rated highly, *i forget his rating i deleted him in*
Comparing Redd to D'Anthony Thomas is comparing apples to oranges, 2 completely different backs. It remains to be seen how Thomas does as an every down back, but I will say this.....He was by far the most explosive and dynamic player in the country last year. A threat to score every time he touches the ball where ever he is on the field. I saw him 4 times in person and twice on TV and you have to see what he makes the defense do in person to really appreciate how good he really is.

People are seriously doing that? I mean, it's definitely way over the line. But honestly, you should try taking a poll of how upset people are over Brown leaving. It's in the minority, believe me. He has 3 TD receptions for his career. I have to be very skeptical of such a thing happening, but if it's on Twitter it must be true. Right Okie?

I'll take clown any day.
Ah yes because you've walked a mile in every mans shoes and have done so much more with your life than Joe. In fact your handle speaks to the levels of your great and outright moral compass. You hated someone because of a game and made up a name over it, but now act like some huge moral compass anonymously online. I guess you've convinced yourself of your holiness.

"One man didn't build this program and one man sure as hell cannot tear it down."
I didn't say all PSU fans were? I said "one of" because i have no idea how many he's gotten. All I know is he tweeted the other day he was receiving death threats. I don't believe everything I read on the internet, I'm not that stupid contrary to what my wife thinks. But when the kid tweets it, then it has some credibility.
Nobody doubts there are jack-nugget PSU fans and 99.999% of the fan base is disgusted by this occurrence. But there is no reason to make accusations to a specific poster without proof. This is really not the way to encourage civil conversation. As you can see with the down votes on at the very beginning of this thread we are not encouraging this type of behavior
Personally I hope Silas is a Heisman finalist, wins the MNC and ends up a top 10 draft pick. I've been a fan of his since he got to Happy Valley and him doing what he thought was best for himself won't change that. Obviously I wish he stayed.
More than just football
i hope usc loses one game to another inferior team, silas keeps splitting reps, 4th round pick or later for taking a easy way out, and for his message to the media about business decisions
Had Silas stayed he may have gone in the 4t anyyways. I always had him pegged as a 2nd or 3rd round guy anyways with how RBs are valued.
Your last sentence. Anybody else ever seen someone come into an organization and immediatley leap frog others who've been there? Better NOT scew up. Every mistake will be magnified. Of course if he scores on a 2 yd TD run it'll make the espn highlight reel.
I'd take Thomas over Silas any day of the week but particularly on Sat and Sun, even if Silas had stayed
Edit: I didn't realize Thomas was rated a 5-star (99 score) coming out of HS. He looked every bit of it as a freshman.

“We need to keep this (expletive) together,” Mauti and Zordich to Hill
Will he even have to be an every down back? They're going to be up by 20-30 points in 75% of the games they play...
