I made it through the first paragraph but had to stop because my brain hurt so much...
What the hell is a "Hamiltonian System"?
Its the new terminology for the zone blocking scheme they use.
Sent to a friend whom is a math professor. Hopefully he can tell me what it means. I love PSU but graduated from Slippery Rock, so needless to say, I have no idea.
Cultural Problem? I now get it...99.9% of the world has no idea what any of this means so yes, we have a culture problem. But thanks to people like John who do and can create, develop and implement their actions we all live better lives for it..
John, thank you for your time your energy and your dedication to your future profession that make my life and all others better.
Just saw that he will be teaching this semester Math 41:Trigonometry and Analytic Geometry
Got a response from my friend the math professor. " He is studying classical Hamiltonian mechanics in a pretty specific three body problem. This is the kind of thing that Calculus was invented for according to Newton."
Don't know about the rest of you guys on the board, but it cleared it up for me.
Thank you for clearing this up.
It's Hamilton Lion's thought process - from another universe and under scientific scrutiny. JK - couldn't resist.
"Who's Dan Morgan?"
Shoot. Read the abstract, looked up a couple things on wikipedia and thought I had a good general picture of what was going on.
Started reading the paper...no chance. Mathematics was always too abstract for me. Good grief.
I feel like you deserve some credit for even trying.
I'm an engineering graduate student, so thought I could get through a little bit.
I've got a few friends who were math graduate students and are now professors. I've found that mathematicians always find the most complex way to say/describe something.
There's math, and then there's what people like Urschel work on, which strangely is also called math.
I was a bit of a math whiz as a child and basically rebelled because I did not enjoy being around other math whizzes, regardless of age. It's definitely a unique culture.
So John is Will Hunting
... if Will Hunting were 6-3, 300
Ah, that must be the "culture problem" we have heard about.
