That's not a bad theory.
Dominate The State
Still...6 more days before he can sign. The neat thing about making up our minds is that we always have the prerogative to change them at any time!
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
I think this is dead on.
I really don't care about this kids decision. I have faith in Steven Bench.
We all have hope or faith or both in Bench.
I've seen twitter posts on the team getting Bench's back which is nice but misguided. The fans want to see a best-man-wins competition, depth at QB, and Hack redshirt so we're good 4-5 years from now, too.
None of that is a slight on Bench. I imagine Bench understands the eggs in one basket approach isn't best for the team.
I can't blame a kid that just dominated in a national championship game for wanting at least the possibility of doing on the big stage. KSU is a top program that he'll have a legit chance to win a championship at. I'm not doubting that his Juco coaches pushed him to KSU, but I don't think we should down play the fact that the sanctions played a major role here.
I agree, but what Waters' is not considering is the fact that there may not be a stage for him at all given the competition he's walking into. So yes, he'll be part of any success of the team, but in all likelihood he will not be starting. While his spot wasn't guaranteed at PSU, that possibility was more of a reality.
I certainly wouldn't say that in all likelihood he won't be starting. With Klein gone, the position is wide open as far as I can tell. I'm not familiar with the other options, there isn't anyone on their team with much experience at all. looks pretty similar to PSU actually.
Well, its similar in that we both lost starting Seniors....its different that we only have ONE QB ON THE ROSTER right now.
Kansas State just became good again. I think he would have come here if not for the sanctions.
Apparently the Sams kid at KSU is the real deal. Athletic running QB the kind Bill Snyder loves. The fans love Sams, he's productive on the field and he's young. I know he's dynamic with his feet i just don't know how well he can chuck it. IMO if Waters starts at KSU the fans will have a mutiny. I just don't see KSU changing their offense for a guy that is going to play 2 years when they have an awesome talent primed and ready to take over.
Plus lets say Waters is the backup, how does that work for an offensive system when two QB's are totally different. Not saying it hasn't been done before, just something I wonder if Waters thought about.
Snyder will force a square peg (Waters) into a round hole (the Snyder offense) like he did to Carson Coffman a few years ago.
Or maybe Jake Waters is the second coming of Tim Tebow. He has the off the field stuff down pat. Maybe he can run it too.
Willing to bet some hellish negative recruiting too..

Look at his talking points from his KSU visit. They basically told him they would change the offense to fit their QB. That is complete nonsense. Snyder is not changing his offense to SEE if Waters is the starter. If he can't run Snyder's offense he is the backup, not the starter. With two guys already on the team that know and run Snyder's offense Waters may end up running the scout team.
All I know is, something changed. Which sucks.
interesting. Sams looks like he was pretty much a wildcat (no pun intended) QB and nothing more this season. He threw a whopping 8 passes (6 were in the OKST game) despite playing in 7 games, but ran 32 times for 235.
I think the point of gets Sams in the game was to keep his hands on the ball because of his ability to be a difference-maker. Plus, KSU was 112 out of 124 teams in number of past attempts this year.
I don't believe that at all. You have kids from IWCC going to Maryland, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and a few others. While it would be natural to have a rapport with KSU, since Snyder recruits the JC ranks more than almost anyone out there (he did it even more the first go around), it would be within the HC's best interest to identify best fit for a kid scheme wise. Why suggest to your starting QB that led you to the NJCAA title to go to KSU, even though you don't fit there. It would be behooving of him to send him to the best fit where he can be developed more to get to the pros - even if this is a one shot deal by PSU at IWCC.
Not buying the coach pushed him to KSU at all.
they certainly had success with the system they ran and it seems a little odd that they have a kid in Sams who looks like a playmaker and fits the system yet they went out and landed more of a pro-style QB by selling playing time and system changes. Should be interesting to see how it plays out.

I agree, I find it interesting. I know Sams (during his recruitment) went to KSU (over some SEC schools as an athlete) because they offered him to play QB. If the kid loses out to Waters, it could make for some interesting drama.
It makes no sense in this instance to push Waters to KSU
