Opening his recruitment up but said, "If I had to choose a school right now, it would still be Penn State. I really just think it will be easier for me to look at my options again and go from there. I want to be fair to Penn State, this has been a difficult decision, but for now I just want to check out all my options again and we'll go from there. Penn State, right now, is a different school then what I originally committed to so I just want to keep my options open for now and take my time with such a difficult decision and focus on my senior year."

"DOMINATE the state" - James Franklin 1/11/14
kind of saw this coming. i don't think he'll come back but if so we're getting a good football player
Penn State is not a different school right now than when you committed. You are viewing it differently because of NCAA sanctions and negative recruiting from other schools, but Penn State remains Penn State. He's gone and the staff should move on.
"Penn State has taken a lot of punches in the last six months and it's time to punch back" - BOB
How could you say that it's not different? He was committing to a program that he probably felt could compete for a national title while he was there. That isn't happening. It's a legitimate concern for him that he'll even get to play on a .500 team.
Like I've said a million times now: we just have to win. We do well this year, things will be ok. We're basically playing at the 65 limit already, and we'll be able to point to that fact with recruits.
“We’re doing things we couldn’t imagine,” says safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong. “But we’re doing them together.”
With limited scholarships we need to have kids who are all in and are happy to be part of the Penn State family. I think the current staff is more than capable of evaluating talent and can sort through the hype.

Penn State isn't a different school at all. Some things have changes surrounding the fb program wrt the NCAA, but Penn State is still Penn State.

One last thing on Issah, #Alabama contacted his coach today, made it clear that they're interested, so it wont be easy for #PSU.
I think Issah might get a few more offers. I'd be shocked if Bama was one of them, though.
He isn't good enough to play at Bama IMO. Big difference between them being interested and him getting an offer. I think he is gone either way though.
Delando Johnson. Tweener that can run and hit. Last I checked Hodges is a pretty good former tweener... And who knows, maybe he can play safety.
WE ARE! And we will always be...
Don't think staff liked Johnson at LB.
Eh. We'll see. Should be interesting to follow who they go after the next few weeks.
Neither do I, but at some point (and especially this year) we are going to have to take a few guys that the staff normally wouldn't take.
Wow, throw a name out there and get downvoted. Got it.
Hodges wasn't a tweener. He was a linebacker playing safety for a little while. Johnson is a true tweener. I have no idea what his best position is.

He will be an NFL linebacker..........Told others on here he was waiting for the SEC to come calling........PSU did their best. Even told him they were done at LB for his class.....oh well, great kid wish him the best
You're being stubborn. For these kids, a lot has changed. They are athletes, and evaluate their school decision based very much on the quality of their athletic experience.
If PSU was still his top choice, he would've stuck with PSU. IMO we got Oregon's sloppy seconds here. Once they told him thanks but no thanks, he committed to his no.2 choice in PSU. Since Oregon has sniffed around again he'll open things up to see if he can garner an offer.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
I only downvote people when they complain about downvotes. Muhahaha
More than just football
This is an absolute myth. He loves PSU. Always has. We were not the backup choice.
I would say that Hodges was a tweener. He was a kid that the majority of schools were recruiting him as a S and only a few were recruiting him as a LB. Penn State recruited him as a S that would grow into a LB. It happened faster than expected because of injuries.
This is exactly right. I'm sorry but if I didn't have the attachment to a school (that I have as an alum) and all of a sudden didn't have a chance to play for "championships" -- regardless of how mythical they may be -- that's a BIG consideration for me.
What competitor wants to play for a team without a chance to win it all if they have a chance otherwise?
F*ck the NCAA and Rod "The Douche" Erickson.
