Wes Lunt transferring to Illinois.
The former Oklahoma State quarterback is moving closer to home to play for Illinois.
Bout time he made it official.
He's a good player, too bad things didn't work out for him at OkieState.
As an OU fan I'm not sorry to see him leave though.
He should fit in well with what Beckman likes to do.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
He'll compete with Bailey next year to be the future at the position. Couple of talented kids for them.
“We’re doing things we couldn’t imagine,” says safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong. “But we’re doing them together.”
"We have a culture of integrity. That's not new at Penn State and that's not going to get old at Penn State."
so you don't think Lunt will start this year?
It has to be lose, or be looking for another school once he's shown the door.
Next year. 2014. Lunt can't play this year and Bailey will probably redshirt since Illinois has two upperclassmen at QB.
Getting this transfer and the relationship that it opens with Derek and his dad nay keep Beckman his job though.
BOOM. Got him.

What exactly does Beckman like to do?
Up-tempo offense, quick decisions from the quarterback, moves the pocket a lot.
i really like Bailey. kid is an explosive athlete and I think he can make the throws required of him with some more coaching. I will admit i have a soft spot for my hometown kid though.
Not that Illinois won't still suck no matter who is playing though
Chase jerseys, crash on college athlete's couches, bang on doors in the middle of the night, follow them to class, drink their beer, and drunk text them incessantly and insecurely. #walkofshame.
I think a lot of that has to do with not having the horses on OLine. That's where Nowicki ended up wasn't it? I'd be curious to see what he does if ever ends up with a Big 10 quality line

No that's really what Beckman wants to do. Almost word for word what he tells the season ticket holders and their boosters.
He did really well with the offense at Toledo. If he can get some fat boys up front capable of handling the blocking assignments he'll have a lot more success.
A guy like Lunt and the kid they got last year are pretty good starts at QB for them though.
If only he understood what those things meant.
Obviously couldn't pass up the opportunity to partner with Nowicki. Can you say Dream Team?
Actually WL is a pretty good player.
Then whats the point of having a strong armed QB like Lunt? He's a 6-5' 225 tree trunk with a rocket arm - because a lot of that is code for "spread, short passing game" which is what NW has made a living off of. He'll have to curb his own instincts of looking intermediate to deep right off the snap. And of course you're basically wasting that arm by not letting routes develop deep.
Oh well. I dont get paid to do this and Coach obviously has a lot more experience than I do.
Lol its funny the tree trunk reference. Wes used to be so damn skinny in HS it wasn't funny.
He actually made his living on the intermediate stuff. That's why he went to Okie State. Spread em out, hit mid, some long. But its about high lighting single coverage and letting the receivers go to town.
From what I saw of Beckman at Toledo, he liked underneath routes and quick hitches.
A big arm is a luxury, and fits into any passing attack.
