I have seen more of Howle in the game, but haven't seen much of Mangiro.
Will be interesting to see how the offensive line shapes up next year.
OT with Gress is a weakspot but should be good in the other spots.
What about Mangiro to C and Arch from LG to RT, if Arch has recovered from his foot injury.
you are thinking like i think....I know Arch isn't ideal for a tackle - but a good chance he is an upgrade over Gress
Arch - Mangrio - Diff - Urschel - Smith not a bad starting 5

I like our OL next year. Urschel and Smith are anchors. Howle, Mangiro, Gress, Shrive, Dieff all played a ton this year. Arci would have if not for the injury. That gives us eight guys to pull from, which is not bad at all.
Just need Mr. Waters or Mr. Bench to step up.

You forgot about deff. Stank is a senior
Thanks meant to say Diff as center
I still can't believe that Nate C. isn't able to beat Gress for that OT spot. I had high hopes for him coming out of high school. His brother was a solid player for us for a few years.
I agree, I thought we'd get more out of Nate. He always looked pretty athletic and has the size. Gress has come a long way, but his issue is his feet and I'm not sure how much you can expect to improve there that he hasn't already. Smith is the real deal (although his pass blocking is relatively weak at times), but we need AT LEST 2 more OTs to step up. If Gress is the best man for the job, we could do worse, but I was hoping to do better.
In the end, a Smith/Gress combo would be pretty good. If we assume no improvement from this year to next, it would be a little dropoff without Farrell, but if we assume the natural improvement (especially with Smith going into his 2nd year and hopefully healthy) it should be a wash at worst.
I think the OL could be pretty good next year.
Mangiro is really young. He'll get there in time.
Howle is a smart, tough player. Wonder how many starts he would have been had he not torn his pec at the start....
I'm not a big Shrive fan. He gets abused in pass pro. Also, he was running his mouth a bit this year, to anyone outside the football program who would listen. I heard through the grapevine that he wished he had transfered, and was upset with MAC. There is absolutely no guarentee he comes back next season(although I can't see him being a diference maker anyone he goes.)

As for my guess at our starting 5:
LT - Smith
LG - Diff
C - Howle
RG - Urschel
RT - Gress/Cadogan
BTW - Is Howle 6' tall?
Also two names were forgetting here, who received some praise for their work on the scout team this year - Stanko and Laurent
Unless Gress improves drastically in the offseason, im very concerned if he is a starter next year, esp. with a new qb. Off the top of my head, the one play i remember watching him saturday the DE did a spin move, he completely whiffed, and McGloin was sacked. Quickly replaced with Farrell.
Anyone heard anything on Alosi?
Thank god I'm not the only one. Gress has been dreadful this season. He looks so unathletic out there. Hopefully Fitz has him do a ton of foot speed drills this offseason.
Arch is gone... He was announced as a SR and isn't coming back... He's graduating and moving on.
WE ARE! And we will always be...
Shrive is so unbelievably soft it isn't funny. He would have been gone so damn fast if we didn't have these stupid sanctions.
Shrive is as dedicated to staying at PSU and always has been. If the MAC you are referring to is McGloin, these guys were teamates at Scranton. Shrive put a bug in the old coaches bonnet about recruiting this kid who Shrive thought was a real winner and competitor. I don't believe this in any way shape or form.Your grapevine is just that, an unsubstantiated rumor mill that is shitting on a great kid.

Pretty sure he means Mac MacWhorter, OL coach.
Yeah, we'll thank you for "knowing my grapevine". Out of respect for the kid, I'll will not share where this information came from, but you can bet your A$$ it's reliable.
And BTW, I was born and raised in the Scranton area, and coached football against both McGloin and Shrive...............but thanks for the history lesson anyways.
And no, the MAC I'm referring to is our O-Line coach.
I am impressed with your Scranton and coaching roots! I guess this gives credence to your "unamed sources" . They and you are spreading dirt and I don't believe you or them for one moment.
So why should we believe you and not him?
