Read this article this morning, http://www.statecollege.com/news/statecollegecom/eileen-morgan-to-penn-state-trustees-set-aside-a-date-to-honor-joe-paterno-1235742/ The article is about setting a day aside to honor Joe, and the day the writer is asking the trustees to set aside is Sept. 6, the Friday before the first home game. It feels like it is time for this to actually happen, and not keep waiting for the BOT to do something, as we have all seen, they are not going to honor Joe in any way. I feel it would go a long way for those of us, alumni, students, and fans, to get our chance to say thank you, to someone who did so much to make our university a great place.
For those who still harbor ill-will towards Joe, you don't have to do a thing. But, for those who would like to see him honored in some way, this may be our chance to help make it happen. By sending our own letters to the trustees requesting this date, may show them that there are many of us who would like to remember and pay tribute to him, and that it's time to finally do this. I always feel better when I'm pro-active, than sitting on my hands and doing nothing.
They need to do something. Throwing in the "remember those that have passed" comment before the moment of silence at the Ohio game last year was Bullshit. Mention the man by name!

Joe made PSU football, in his prime he was as good as anyone that ever coached!
Thanks Mel for sharing. This is a great idea. Obviously this is long overdue. I'm sure you can look for a lot of "our" support.
Joe made PSU what it is.
I have a master's in mechanical engineering from Penn State. As highly as the ME department is ranked nationally, as soon as anyone finds out that I went to Penn State, the first question is always about PSU football or Joe. Not about the school of engineering.
Recognize the man, the legend. Stop worrying about what other people (media) will say if we honor him. They don't matter.
We (the alumni and the fans) matter.
They just have to name the day and I will be there.
^^ This ^^
From day one of the Sandusky mess, the BOT was too worried about appeasing the media and general public, who have no vested interest in PSU, that they lost sight of the interests of alumni and fans who have an actual interest in PSU and who write checks. Hopefully with Peetz and Surma out of leadership roles, and the passage of time, the BOT and admin can refocus on the alumni and fans.
Glad to see Joe was the one that taught your classes.
The hero worship is sickening.

If it sickens you, throw up, and crawl back under the rock you normally live under.
Every time you post here, i wish i was mature enough to ignore you like you deserve to be.
Then don't reply and be as mature as you claim to be.
