Ryan Shazier had 21 more solo tackles than Coaches' first teamer Max Bullough. 21 more than Mauti, 27 more than Borland--both missed game(s)
Ryan Shazier had 17 TFLs and 5 sacks. Coaches' 1st teamers Michael Mauti and Max Bullough combined for 16 TFLs and 5 sacks.
Btw, the B1G's Linebacker of the Year didn't even have the most tackles for linebackers ON HIS OWN TEAM.
Ryan Shazier had more sacks than Michael Mauti had tackles for loss.
Ryan Shazier finished with 13 more TFLs than B1G Linebacker of the Year Michael Mauti.
Quit your bitching.
We're not exactly the ones bitching anymore are we?
Shazier didn't come back from two blown out ACL's, and hold his team together when it was falling apart. Guess its easier to shine when you're playing next to a fullback as opposed to another All B1G selection at linebacker.

"PSU a 3 to 4 win team" - New-era, September 2012
Does anyone else when they see Helwagen see the name as "Hell-wagon?"
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
Here's his stats if you feel like brining up Mauti's:
Shazier: 115 tackles (70 solo), 17 TFLs, 6.5 sacks, 11 PBU, 3 FF, 1 INT, 1 TD.
I see blindOSUhomerwagen
Easier to shine when you play next to a fullback? Oh, you mean the fullback that had more tackles in 6 games than Te'o? Yeah, nice try. Boren was a stud at LBer. Not sure how, but he was.
Again and its not hard to comprehend - maybe so for you ... Shazier was on the field more because OSU's defense wasn't as good for the greater portion of the season. That is fact, not fiction. That is why he had more tackles. Add in the fact Mauti missed 1.7 games, that is another reason.
You clowns are big on stats - thinking they tell the complete story. That is far from the truth.
Coaches prefer Mauti for various reasons over Shazier and its not hard to figure out why.
So, you are going to be a moron and put Boren in Te'os level?
Again numbnuts, OSU's defense was on the field more than ND's was during that stretch. Boren played very well when moved, but don't be a clown.
Haha. Not even facts can prove you people wrong.
And no, you were acting like Boren was some slouch that made no impact. Just showing that he did indeed make an impact.
Taylor Lewan was the best OL in the conference because he scored the most TDs.
Antonio Andrews of Western Kentucky had better rushing stats than Montae Ball, so he must be better than Madison's best.
It's like clockwork here. OSU fan gets pissed off once again because the coaches and media think PSU's linebackers are better than theirs. The come back and use stats as their only ammo, which doesn't paint the full story.

Are you saying that touchdowns for offensive linemen are as important as TFL, Tackles, and sacks for LBers?
As a former college offensiive lineman and OL coach: absolutely. There is nothing more important in the game of football than TDs.
What is more important in football than TDs?
He's saying stats don't tell the entire story but OSU stat classes must teach something different than other universities.
What facts? If stats told the whole story, Dan Molls from Toledo is the best LB in the country. He leads the country in tackles.
Both the coaches and the media picked Mauti as 1st team. The media usually vote based on stats and coaches vote based on watching film. Interesting that everyone agrees Mauti was deserving and not so much for Shazier.
“We need to keep this (expletive) together,” Mauti and Zordich to Hill
I have to say that irregardless of what fan base I'm from that is funny.
As an honest OSU fan I'll also say that I can't form a worthwhile opinion on who should win the award. I didn't watch enough of the other guys under consideration.
I will say for sure that Shazier was a totally different player in the last four OSU games than he was in the first 8. I was quite vocal about Shazier overrunning plays and missing tackles for those first 8 games. Then starting at the Purdue game he really came alive and started playing at as high a level as anyone I've seen play all year. My real issue with giving him the award would be if other guys were more consistent over the course of the season. I'd definitely assign a lot of value to someone that did it for more than a third of the season, but I can't say if or who that could be.
Colt Brennan was one of the greatest QBs ever and way better than Andrew Luck!
Look at the stats you idiots!

You think it's bad now, just imagine if OB wins coach of the year tomorrow.
Linebacker U doing what Linebacker U does best.
You know you're doing something right when OSU fans are bitching about it.
Jason Elam should have won the Heisman! He has the most points, just look at the stats!
Meyer4Prez "This is wut happens when ur team site analyst are huge homers glad Bill K+Alex G keep it real instead of getting our hopes up."
Nerdy internet tough guy bangs two fatties in his whole life... cool kid down the block marries his HS sweetheart. Tough guy = more awesome? Stats?
He definitely watched the osu vs psu game where the three best defensive players (Simon, Shazier and hanking) suited up in Scarlett and grey.
