.....2 worse performances by QBs with stat lines like they had today?
mcgloin had a shaky start but made some pretty phenomenal throws from that point on. Some of his back shoulder passes were pinpoint and he also buried Indy with some great throws in the late 3rd quarter...so..all in all your obviously lost. really lost
...not sure what you want from this kid at this point
So you think his performance today accurately reflected his stats? Talk about lost...
FWIW I think the kid from Indiana was much worse. Does that make you feel better?
He had some bad tosses, but he also made some good ones. Sorry that bothers you so much. It's kind of funny how some get so bent out of shape if MM has even a somewhat decent day. Kid went from former walk on to the single season passing record holder while throwing only 5 picks. He was off for a little while, but bounced back. He also had a WR who was was simply possessed out there today. That tends to help the cause, but I don't think I'm upset PSU won or his stat line was good. In fact, who in their right mind that roots for the school was be bothered by it?
"One man didn't build this program and one man sure as hell cannot tear it down."
Not really sure what to make out of this.....
Sure McGloin had his token horrendous sack for a 15+ yard loss, but I thought he was pretty good after a ho-hum start. On the day he was 22-32 (69%) for almost 400 yards and 4 TDs. How bad could he have been?

This could be the most bizarre thread of the day. That's saying something because there are some great contenders in that department.
My bad guys, Mac looked great all 4 quarters, not just the last quarter and a half. Sure he played great down the stretch (thank God), but he didn't look like a qb with 400 yds and 4 TDs, sorry if that bothers some of you.
And some of you need you knock off the walk on crap. I could care less if he was a walk on, he's starting now. My point was, can you imagine what their stat lines would have been
Wasn't always pretty but he was fine. Only thing that matters is we won.
Robinson was out of his mind today. Possessed.
How about playing well against a good defense for once. He has one more chance, I hope he does it.
He was a walk on and that was $hit on by so many and still is. Maybe he'll fall on his face next week and you can thump your chest about that. The same BS lines were used against DC when he lost games. He isn't the McPic machine that so many predicted he was. He is way better than he was last year. Sorry if we all don't piss on him because he isn't perfect. The defense got absolutely shredded for the most part, but our QB was the real problem today. Ok then.

Are you drunk? When did I say our problem today was QB play? And yes, both defenses sucked and made the QBs look better than they were, right?
No, are you drunk? Our defense has sucked 2 weeks in a row and is taking steps back every single week right now. Maybe both QB's made the defenses look bad? Not everything is black and white. Both QB's had some poor throws and some decent plays. That's football. Sometimes the stats are a bit inflated due to RAC and sometimes they aren't as good due to a guy tossing the ball away a few times. Neither QB was perfect, but neither one was awful IMO. PSU just had a difference maker today out wide which is great for PSU.

okay I think that McGloin didn't have a fantastic game despite his stat line but he won the game. And as much as I don't like him as a player, that counts for something. It doesn't mean he's good and he still makes the same boneheaded mistakes he always (intentional grounding) has but he won so I'll give him a pass.
The guys comes up one throw short of setting a school record for passing yards and this is what you come up with?
No one ever gives credit to mcgloin for the good throws. He had plenty of nice throws yesterday!
matt had one of his best throwing games i thought, he was throwing it with some zip finally, and wasn't anywhere as short on some of his long throws, and Indiana qb dealt with more then several drops ending drives, he was pretty on target though just team let him down
Indianas QB missed open receivers numerous times. You could go back and count probably five times on third down where he threw over the head or behind a receiver. He also missed Winn who wide open just about all game. Winn could have had 20 catches with a good QB.
Mcgloin is the same old. Much improved over a year ago. Still doesn't see the entire field well, especially down the field. Still has happy feet and tend to hold on to the ball too long.
I agree with the OP that the stat line for Indiana isn't telling. Our pass D was atrocious as was our tackling in the secondary. But I disagree with his assessment on mcgloin. Mcgloin played as well as mcgloin can play.

That thrown to mosbey-felder in the third quarter on 4th down while rolling to his left was excellent. I thought of sure we weren't going to convert as soon as mcgloin got pressured out of the pocket.

McGloin wasn't that bad. I have been a critic of his for the last two years. He is still light years ahead of where he was. Sure, he made mistakes - forcing that throw and taking those three sacks when there were opportunities to throw the ball away without getting flagged. He had basically 400 yards passing and completed 63 percent of his passes. He had three drops as well, one which would have been a biggy to Robinson.
If you want to argue that McGloin would have had probably 210 yards passing if not for the missed tackles by IU, go ahead.
The "really" part was more like "why even make this thread?". It's silly.
22 for 32
so I guess you weren't happy with the 10 incompletions?
I am ok with being critical, but I think you picked the wrong game to zero in on McGloin. Other than 2 plays (the unnecessary sack and the forcing of the throw to Lehman which was deflected and picked) - he helped to generate 45 points.

Watched it again. People are apparently clueless about the position or the actual sport. Some early bad throws, but solid QB play beyond that. It's actually funny how far off the original post was.
This was my point, more of a commentary on both defenses leading to super inflated stat lines. Admittedly was a bit drunk and could have said it better. Mac played OK, but not 400 yds OK. Coffman played much worse, missing a lot of easy throws including one in the first quarter that was an easy TD.
But it's fun watching everyone get their panties twisted in a knot, so yeah, Mac sucked.
So logic tells me that you post something and everyone gets their panties twisted in a knot. So either "everyone" is off base or you are. Just sayin'.....
