"We want the warriors"
Here here to a man that built a university and looked the other way.
Here here to the idiot of the day!
Unfortunately your legacy is not defined by what you build but rather single events and unfortunately his lady event that he is defined by is Sandusky scandal and really destroys his legacy for all the great things he did sonny.
"I like your head, it's a good look." - James Franklin, to a bald reporter asking a question.
Uh huh and what exactly did he do that warranted this tarnishing?
This is the post to celebrate the Joe Paterno for the man that most of us revered, a man who gave his heart and soul to this university, a man who has molded so many into productive citizens, a man that defined the characteristics of a student athlete by graduating so many of them throughout his life. For you to defile our celebration of his birthday by stating his shortcomings showed poor judgement on your part.
Idiot post of the week.
I think Goalieman688 just won "ASSHOLE OF THE YEAR" award.

I know you have your opinions but this was a thread started to celebrate a great man's birthday. To come on here on this thread and voice your opinions on Joe is just plain not needed.Like the saying goes sir,"opinions are like @$%holes and yours really stinks."
Sir the expression is "x are like a holes everyone has one an they all stink".
Was a controversial figure in the middle of the Sandusky case. Whatever he knew it was not as viewed as doing enough and unfortunately that the circumstances thrive under his leadership...knowingly or not and thhat will forever stain his legacy.
No point to even reply to this with a response you cannot have a conversation with stupid.
History is filled with them. You celebrate Thomas Jefferson who owned a bunch of slaves and may have even fathered several children.
Celebrate Washington, very much a flawed individual.
Kennedy with his womanizing ways.
If you are catholic, you show up to church every Sunday and pretend that nothing had hit them, scandal or not.
Common thread all are usually remembered or defined by one event. Washing, first president, Jefferson president, Kennedy Cuban missile crisis. They looked past the rest of their flaws and the legend grew.
My point is simple. The more I have read and continue to read about Paterno the less doubt he knew something and unfortunately did not rise to the occasion. I have been a big paterno fan since I was at psu, but you cannot hold out on a prayer that he did not know anything especially since he is not around to actually share the truth.
I choose to ignore the profane and inane remarks of Goalieman and others of his ilk, take the high road, and focus instead on an extraordinary life well-lived. JoePa, you are still that icon, that beacon of what is good and true...and although my earlier post was on your birthday (yesterday), today's post is simply to state that I honor the man every day of the year!
Thanks for posting the auction a couple weeks ago. Will enjoy what I won in the auction.

Thanks Goalieman for participating in the auction (which will benefit lifelong learners)...Much appreciated. (As to my previous comment...I hope you realize that the purpose of this thread was to honor a great man on his birthday, and not to throw aspersions. Whether anyone agrees or disagrees about "how much Joe knew"...I think that time will vindicate. And until that time, I will continue to honor the man for the overwhelming good that he has done and many lives that he has made better. This thread's purpose was to thank the man on his birthday. So, with that said, I choose to ignore all remarks that fly in the face of that.) Thanks again for your participation in the auction!
Understood but its comical how easily people get fired up. Inane things like asshole post of the year...wish people had similar class to you but as I said before you cannot rationalize with stupid. Enjoy your break and merry Xmas (?) to you and your family
