Not trying to intrude, but what was the issue?
“If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.” ― Haruki Murakami
You're right. BOB doesn't run the football program like the family pizzeria like JVP did.
Joyner is a mega-douche who was getting in the way. BOB just did his best Mauti impression and took that fighter out
JVP held this program hostage for a decade. BOB just undid much of that lasting legacy. Thank goodness for that.
“We’re doing things we couldn’t imagine,” says safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong. “But we’re doing them together.”
Yeah this was probably the better way to ask my question.
Meyer4Prez "This is wut happens when ur team site analyst are huge homers glad Bill K+Alex G keep it real instead of getting our hopes up."
It's been said, albeit very cryptically. No details have been discussed regarding his other demands. If its not about money, stadium expansion? New weight room? New facilities? What could PSU possibly improve upon that is not salary related?
check the "Obie Staying" thread....Trock explains it in there
Maybe Joe wielded his power. But at least he did it with more than one season under his belt, two MNC's, stellar grad rates, and millions in fundraising. Refute that.
"A lion does not concern himself with the opinions of the sheep"- Glenn Carson
you have to be kidding. Joe held the program hostage much longer than OB did. He constantly flexed his muscles, possibly more than any college coach in the history of the game. Don't get me wrong, I love Joe as much as anyone but you can't be serious.
you are right... he won't be Joe, no one will. That's not a terrible thing.

It's been said pretty clearly.
Ok so holding the university hostage is only ok if it is negative for the university? Because the result of BOB holding the university hostage was positive changes for our football program in a time of need.
Yeah. Just got a new weight room. Been wondering this myself. I think it has a lot to do with assistant pay. What do I know though. I could see how having an inexperienced AD could be annoying for BOB.
LOL..."maybe". It's not 1986 and never will be again, sorry.
the AD position.
Ok then please repeat so I don't have to go through 100 pages to find it.
Get the fuck over it. BOB wanted changes so he had the chance to truly compete moving forward. The University needed him for the program more than vice versa. He leveraged it like any person smart enough to play the market would. Just because the internet wasn't around back in the day never meant Joe did early in his career. We all know he did it towards the end.
He's here. We have a coach. Quit bitching like people don't do this every day when looking for new jobs and raises.
Meddling administrators? Recruiting budget and capabilities (think helicopters and jets)? Perks for assistants (not flying coach or driving around in a Ford Escort Wagon)? Quit apologizing every fighting time someone interviews you Mr. Administrators? Having a real Prez and AD to work with? A Red Bull fridge? Bottomless bag of Peanut M&Ms?
2000-2004? Only head coach in CFB who didn't recruit? Low staff salaries? Increasing player behavior problems? Systematic mediocrity?
By the time he was late into his career, Joe was an egomaniacal old man who refused to let this program flourish.
BOB just did everyone who cares about PSU a massive favor by undoing the structural limitations that our program faced. This was all meant to benefit every single PSU fan. Wake up.
He mentioned during the coaches clinic that we were getting a new turf field inside Holuba. Did that ever happen?

I think the M&M's were the key that got this deal done.
What fun would that be?
It's about the structure of the athletic department. Mainly, Joyner. Apparently he makes doing anything difficult, and BOB wants to run his program as he sees fit, without having to jump through hoops with his hands tied.
Can you possibly add more negatives to this sentence? Don't, don't, didn't, didn't...
It's obviously Jack in the Box tacos.
