Don't count on it. That's the insanity of these boards. It's the "Philafan" effect. Hmmm...never thought I'd use "Philafan" as a verb. HAAAHAAAHAAA.....

October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
You didn't use Philafan as a verb. SMH.
I won't apologize. He did what he had to and hopefully no short/long term damage was done with the players up there. We have a coach on loan for another year or two IMO and I'll treat it like that. Glad he got what he wanted, but don't color me impressed when any first year guy anywhere makes demands. Some can do it and that is fine, but it doesn't make me want to stand up and applaud them. I just thought the timing of this after the year PSU had and what he asked of his players was a bit odd. His motives could have been pure, but it's hard to see that on the outside looking in. I want PSU football to win, but I can't stand the grandstanding in first years of contracts...pro players and the same applies with coaches. Oh well...just win games as that is what you are now... a hired gun like the rest.

AlbertBreer: Arizona and San Diego also reached out to Bill O'Brien. Agent Joe Linta says Philly/Cleveland talks "never got past the conversation phase".
This was ALL about making sure the PSU football program has all of the advantages that major programs around the country have, including the resources to compete financially for the best coaching talent and to recruit as hard as needed.
We are finally playing on the same level as the major programs in CFB.
Great victory today.

BoB is just setting up his shop. As i've said before, he's not leavin until he does something big as a college HC... He's young, the nfl will be there, this job has got a lot more perks and is better for raising the family
Ah man, I've been Philafaned by psumichael. You are correct sir. My prior use of Philafan was an adjective. I stand corrected.
Who would have thought Penn State would have the Browns to thank for, at long last, securing those advantages?
Or the ineptness of Andy Reid, for that matter.

Would you rather have that, or BOB leave and the program be set back 3 years? You are being a baby, he did this for leverage for his assistants and himself.
Way too much drama on these boards IMO. But I really like the outcome and the future ramifications.
Please don't compare JVP to a man who held this university hostage. I'm happy he's staying because of what leaving would have meant, but he will never be Joe. A lot of perspective has been lost tonight. But it's unfortunately the new reality that is the cesspool of college football.

Not discrediting that but I don't understand why BOB would interview with Philly and Cleveland today if that's the case.

If the talk about his demands are true, then he wasn't holding the program hostage, the admins were.
Because there were a few other things he was leveraging for.
It's been said over and over and over that money wasn't the issue.
ya seriously. I'm sure OB was reading all those comments here and was really upset about it. you folks better apologize!!
PLEASE! I don't like BOB's actions as much as anyone, but don't act like Joe didn't make power plays when he didn't get what he wanted. He just did it in different ways. He held all the power in most situations, just like BOB currently has. But Joe wouldn't use that power (sarcasm), like teliing the President and AD that he would essentially be the football coach for as long as he wanted.
Uhh what do you call 2004?
