The timing of this is very interesting. OB has his presser scheduled for 9 AM tomorrow, if he lets it loose and airs out the admiistration he will look like a hero. The media will love it because its PSU controversy and they will be on OB's side. All the pressure will be on the BOT to act in OB's favor and they've already proven they will cave to public pressure. PSU could be the biggest story in the nation tomorrow on the day Bama and ND are set to play for a MNC. Almost feels like this was planned this way. I support Bill O'Brien.
I sincerely hope that we do not hear the presser is canceled. I would be terrified if that happened. Until then, still not buying that this story is 100% true.
OB isn't going to air out any laundry ... it's just not how he rolls.
He is going to be glad to be back and will be marching forward through winter workouts, spring drills, spring game, summer ball, and of course the season. He will probably mention the guys that just signed their LOI's.
He will continue to be the guy we have seen over the last year.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
I am sure both Erickson and Joyner were pissed at how BOB out-smarted them...
Hopefully this is just their last ditch effort before they are shipped out...
However, a football coach questioning the president of any organization can lead to career suicide...I think BOB is smarter than to do that in a press conference.
Nice, I'm pretty sure national reporters follow laschout so hopefully someone runs with this.
BacardiBuckeye: "But in all honesty I like Penn State, I want to see Penn State do good that's why I check this board everyday." 4/2/14
Anyone know if the presser will be on the radio? I will be mid-drive and would love to hear it.
WE ARE! And we will always be...
Right but the threat that he COULD might be enough to squash this. At any point in time his tongue could slip, same thing goes for Chambers. Joyner and Erickson get no media attention. If OB wanted to prove his point he could be on every radio station in America tomorrow. And it may not be OB's style but who's to say his agent won't 'mention' something to somebody. His agent's job is to look out for OB's best interest and he's shown that he will use the media to get his point across. Erickson and Joyner are ill equipped to fight this kind of battle.
It will be on BTN. Don't know about radio.
A university president pissing off a billionaire alum is also career suicide. Something doesn't really add up in this rumor.
I have read through all of the posts. The one thing we have going for us is that O'Brian's deal is already public. It has been on ESPN, CNN, Yahoo, etc. If Erickson shoots this down, it will be obvious to the world. They will look like the biggest bunch of a$$hats to the world as we already know them. This also will not sit well with the big big boys and I'm not talking about Pegula or Lubert. I'm talking about the BIG, FOX(BIG Network) and Nike. They will not sit still, allowing a cash cow for them like PSU be desolved into nothing. sure they beat us down during Sandusky, but they would not allow us to go away completely.

Joyner cries about how his life would be ruined, so Erickson wants to ruin everyone else's.......
I don't know, if that was a real threat I'd call his bluff and let him knife himself.
If you see a coach at the podium saying those types of things I don't think that would look favorably to other potential employers. Who wants a loose canon?
Let his agent mention something, if anything that would just eventually be a question OB would have to answer.
We'll see what happens, I'm really starting to feel this is not 'real', but more just to add more fuel to the Erickson and Joyner must go fire. I doubt, right now, that most or any of this stuff is real.
He wouldnt have to come out and be a dick. He will most certainly be asked "What were some of the changes you wanted to see in the program that you got as part of your deal?" He could easily answer, "I wanted to have a permanent AD put in place." Follow up could be, "What about Dr. Joyner?" Answer "He has been the interim and it was my understanding that his position was temporary. Its been a year and I think its time we got a permanent AD so our athletic department can began functioning properly." If he puts it out there that he wanted a new AD and he was told he'd get one, then the admin will look really foolish publicly if they go back on that.
That's what I've been saying, but the mania has taken over again. The natives are restless right now and riled up, but when the dust settles, cooler heads will prevail as in the "panic" of BOB leaving just 72 hours ago. Relax!~
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
This! BOB can call throw them all under the bus tomorrow without looking bad...
From Anthony Lubrano
"Calm down everyone. This will be my one and only post on this topic. Let's not waste any more emotional energy on this false rumor. Dave Joyner, so far as I know, is not getting the AD's job on a permanent basis. The next permanent AD will be selected via a national search. The only question is the timing of that search. I'm pushing for sooner rather than later. As for Bill O'Brien, to his credit, he never asked for his contract to be amended or for more money. He loves Penn State and believes deeply in furthering Joe's work as well as leaving his mark on Penn State. He's an intense, hard-working individual whose expectations of those around him are equally high. He wants qualified, competent professionals working in athletics. He wants people capable and willing to think for themselves. I expect to hear him tell us this tomorrow. Good night."
I love it when the board goes into meltdown mode... Way more entertaining than talking about why omar truitt has gotten an offer yet.
He just has to be honest. Media would eat it up. They'd call his honesty 'refreshing', and it would be a perfect example of the transparency that OB wants to keep in the program.
I agree. But often times real life is stranger than fiction. I tend to follow Occam's Razor when it comes to these "leap of faith" assumptions. Keep it real before jumping the proverbial shark!
Thats a very interesting thing to say.
But I'm now hearing UNCONFIRMED reports that the University has cancelled tomorrow's Presser...... Can anyone confirm this?
And I take a deep exhale. I don't care if this is faked or not. It lets me relax.
I think, like the rest of you, I just care too much about the university and the football program. I grew up with it. How could I not.
I know I've seen it before, but I must say... that is one awesome van you have in your sig.
.... oh and thanks for posting. sounds good to me!
Now that's a powerful sentiment from one who has something pertinent and influential to say. I trust this is a legit quote BTW!
