Not like this would surprise anyone, but Emmert doesn't even know the basic facts. That really is the only way to explain why the sanctions started in 1998. If it's not in the Freeh report, it didn't happen I guess.
I like it, but it would help if they proofread their statement. I am pretty sure they meant "ensuing" rather than "ensuring." That does not help their case.
I was just about to write the same thing. Looks unprofessional right from the first or second paragraph.
PS4RS and others need to understand that there is a difference between choosing not the press charges and acquitting an individual of any wrongdoing. By the few accounts that I've read on the matter, Gricar thought Sandusky guilty, yet lacked enough evidence to put together a case that would hold up in court.
Regardless, Mark Emmert, Ed Ray, Sally Mason have shown themselves to be little more than political, grandstanding hypocrites through this entire debacle.
They are aware, and ensuring was put in there verbatim as it was in the detroit free press article.
If that's the case, they should use "[sic]" after it. Without it, it reads as though they did not proofread. They should also make it clear that they copied the article, or parts of the article.

Regardless, the charges were dropped. That much we do know.
I don't think he was even charged with anything let alone acquitted. Not sure what the NCAA expected Penn State to do after the police said he did nothing illegal.
The freep article for those who care. If only the police were involved in 1998, lol what a joke.
Two months removed from the unprecedented sanctions against Penn State football, NCAA president Mark Emmert isn't wavering.
I wish PS4RS would raise $ and send these via USPS using 'Every Door Direct Mail'. I would donante $ in a heart beat!
I tired of him saying Penn State has a culture problem when it doesn't and Joe did not have the power everyone thought he had.
Problem with "everyone" outside of Happy Valley is that they believe the "mythical" Joe Paterno and not the real man. Just look where he lived the last 50-60 years! The guy's phone number is published in the phone book for Cripes sake!
Joe ran the FB team. And for a few short years was also the AD. But that took too much time so he dropped the AD hat in favor of just being Head Coach. Spanier could have fired him any time he wanted. When the BoT finally fired JP, he didn't wield his power of culture to retains his job now did he?
Yeah, I'm sick of the mass media (ESPN) narrative too. But I agree with the gist of this thread, that it will take time for the truth to trickle out. Next big Chapter in this putrid Miasma is the verdicts in the Curly/Schultz trials in January
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
I really like what PS4RS is doing. I am apart of the facebook group, and sometimes they go too far with conspiracy theories and the BoT. But overall it's a good group that has done good things for PSU. It bugs me that they are harshly criticized by some students at PSU.
Ya' can't do a Q&A "recruiting" PSU thread w/o considering the impact of the dreaded "sanctions". Said "sanctions" are at the edict of Mark Emmert (NCAA prexy fame). Said "sanctions" wouldn't be without the BoT-sanctioned Freeh report.
So my question is: How can anything future-PSU-recruiting-related activity NOT be considered given the current NCAA-inflicted restrictions?
I also note that the "administrating 'offical' 247 types" on this site have allowed, but have not commented seriously on the ground-roots opposition to the 'official' NCAA stance on the PSU sanctions.
There is a groundswell of support for PS4RS, Framingpaterno.com, etc. Why is there such an alacrity of acknowledgment of Freeh, but not this movement from the powers that be on this website?
