When will ESPN hold themselves accountable for the crap they spew.......this dude should be canned TODAY
What's funny is you know this guy was pretty much egged on to say stuff like that. That First Take show is nothing but saying outrageous crap.
It doesn't matter, they are about the flash and the edgy.
Heck Stephen A. Smith says the same thing as Parker about everyone without actually coming out and specifically saying it.
ESPN is a joke.
This has been up for 15 min and no RMJ post?????? What?
Why should he be canned, for having an opinion? All the stupid false journalism out there that ESPN is responsible for, and this is what you think someone should be fired for? Unfortunately ESPN probably agrees.
What do you mean "you people"......... LOL.
That is my name on their tops and no one can tell me any different!!!!
ESPN just announced that Rob Parker has been suspended “until further notice” due to his comments Thursday about Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III.
Until further notice.
Those comments are about as racist as you can get, can't do that.
Racist? This country is getting so ridiculously stupid. RG3's father didn't seem to have to much umbrage with it.
He can have whatever opinion he wants but ESPN doesn't have to pay him for it. Parkers comments don't only reflect on himself but on the network and ESPN can't have commentators spouting racist things. They have a brand to protect. If Rob Parker wants his crazy opinions out the he should start a blog or his own network but I bet nobody will read/watch.
ESPN cares about ratings and advertising. I am sure the potential or actual public/financial backlash is enough that it warrants suspending him.
Second, he has the right to have his opinion, but he also has to be held accountable for what he said. He can have his opinion, but if his employer doesn't like it. They have the right to fire him, especially if it could hurt their bottom line.
The only thing I can think of is that we heard different comments.
I can see an ESPN suit thinking Parker should be fired for costing them money, potentially, but why in the hell would any person not in that situation think that a man should be fired for having an opinion.
Read the article, for GOD"S sake his own father says he doesn't think it was racist.
For precedent, years ago ESPN fired Rush Limbaugh for saying the media wanted Donovan McNabb to succeed.
That was a white man, who happens to be known for ridiculousness, talking about a black man. This is a black man, who may or may not be known for ridiculousness, talking about a black man.
That doesnt make it not racist.
Except it was a comment on the media. Not really about McNabb.
Where's the line? Parker gets paid for having an opinion. It's not like he's an accountant who is a neo nazi. So it's ok for Rob Parker to say whatever opinion he has no matter absurd it is? Michael Richards (kramer) tried that strategy and it was aweful.
And it was accurate. You made the comparison not me.
What does make it racist?
Someone in the media making a stupid comment, color me surprised. On a side note, does ESPN ever talk about sports anymore? You might as well watch The View.

Are you serious? What about it isnt racist??? Did you read his comments? To say that somebody has to act a certain way or do a certain thing because of the color of their skin is racist.
Are you serious? This is as racist as you can get.
