Starting to get real loud now. I hope power and internet stay up.
Electricity just flickered here in Harrisburg. Came right back on though.
"DOMINATE the state" - James Franklin 1/11/14
Gusts probably 35-40 in Chester Co. Rain is very heavy, has been going all day. I've got 3 full Wet Vac loads out of the basement thus far, but it's an ongoing process every 2-3 hours. Will probably continue all night and day tomorrow. My house was built in 1740...not the most enjoyable basement to maintain on these days.
It's times like that that I'm glad I live in a third floor apartment.
I hope it stays as nothing but a minor inconvenience for you, and not anything worse.
Pittsburgh - raining all day, started as light rain, but has been pretty hard last few hours; winds at 20 mph; many schools closed tomorrow, some with delays
I saw those too......after being caught up in hype of the OSU game I realized how serious this storm really is. JC - I probably went buzzing by you at some point, I was the one running cars off the road so I could get to my tailgate for the Steelers/Skins game.
My buddy just lost power in Susquehanna township
It's been manageable thus far. The water tends to stay in just one portion of our basement, so we're good with a cleanout every couple hours.
But...if/when the power goes out, different story.
We are right in the eyes path after landfall. So far our lights haven't flickered
That's where I'm at too. Fortunately, our power is back on though...for now.
It has gone out is several areas around you and I...notably Delaware Co, PA. It's headed for me right after you, but (knock on wood) we typically have a good history with power outages. That's one benefit of living in one of the few 'normal' houses in a VERY wealthy area. Money does bring 'power'. #hurricanehumor
Its those damn above ground power lines on crooked hill road. They really need to do something about that
I know....I live right off of crooked hill road too. haha
Our power usually goes out with a stiff breeze. We will lose it...just a matter of when IMO.
Twin sons of different mothers! Booze kills pain and I can't feel your pain Bro!
Here in Centre County, storm center should be around Mt. Union, PA @ 8am tomorrow morning. Centre Region has about 2" of rain so far. As the center of Sandy moves closer winds will pick up and rain will diminish a bit.
Weather started deteriorating here about an hour and a half ago and should continue to get worse over night into tomorrow morning. The bloody storm will still be a Tropical storm tomorrow @ 8am and still a hurricane 1 when it hits southeastern PA later tonight.
It's now beginning to comingle with a winter storm low. The beginnings of the creation of the Perfect storm or Frankenstorm as some have called.
This is one massive wench of a storm!
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
The governor said the eye of the storm will be over State College around 2 pm tomorrow.
Driving today from jax to boca raton fl, I counted about 50 FPL trucks heading north. Stay safe everyone.
New Jersey and Manhattan aren't going to be the same for a long time.
NJ is really getting lit up.
The mayor of AC is going to be in some serious hot water once this storm passes.
We're in the eye area. Very little wind and the rain has all but stopped.
in about 2 hours, they are saying we'll get hit with more heavy winds for 4-6 hours, and that's when we'll lose power.
By then, the winds will have died down significantly. The worst will be tonight, no doubt.
