Are playing decent ball right now I think. Except for Fagnano who has no business playing. With added depth next year they won't be too bad.
“We’re doing things we couldn’t imagine,” says safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong. “But we’re doing them together.”
I think we'll really miss morris next year. He's had a quietly solid senior year. SOA is coming into his own and I'd say has surpassed Willis as the best safety. Fagnano on passing downs just baffles me. And Amos speaks for himself on the field.
They are playing way above my expectations. A lot of that has to do with SOA's continued improvement. We will miss Morris next year certainly.
Notice that Da'Quan Davis saw zero time tonight - I don't think the staff is ready to watch him try to tackle a running QB. Probably will not see much of him at Nebraska either. Hopefully, he can add some strength and refine his technique for next year.
Believe it or not, I think a real guage of this year's secondary may come against Indiana. We really haven't played a team like them who primarily likes to sling it downfield the way they do.
I agree! Fagnano is the weak link. He gets beat all the time.
Fagnano also got trucked at the goal line on a 3d a goal while filling the hole unblocked. One on one tackle in the hole and he ended up on his back. Tough runner, but he needed to bring more on that play. That seemed to be an uninspired effort which I hold him accountable for. Getting beat in the passing game is due to a mismatch in talent which is not his fault. Sanzbacher on Fagnano one-on-one will be a TD frequently, even with Miller throwing. Just like with MM, if he is the best we have, I don't blame them for playing poorly. I only hold them responsible for playing stupidly or without the requisite effort necessary to overcome their athletic deficiencies relative to their opponents.
Stoneburner, Sanzanbacher graduated couple years back. But I completely agree, cringe every time I see him in. Just deflating really.
I wondered about Fagano playing on passing downs as well. I thought he typically came off, Davis came in and Amos shifted to S. I guess they didn't feel comfortable w/ Davis against OSU.

Hopefully Cook (if he's offered) and Nicholson saw the opportunities in front of them if they decide to come to PSU.
and D'Andre Payne.... our secondary is not a weakness, save Fagnano and Agyapong at the beginning of the year....but they just can't make the big play. Why can't Agyapong haul in just ONE of the numerous balls that have hit him in the hands this year. He should have had a pick 6 but he just can't make the big play. They aren't a weakness or a strength imo.
We've got several good players. Just that depth is a killer. Amos is looking quite good as a physical corner out there.
Cook would be great. Really hoping his senior film has impressed and he snags an offer. I'd be happy with Smith, Robinson, Gaines, and Cook. Maybe on more if they can get someone to enroll early.
Isn't Smith enrolling early?
Yes. I meant "someone else". Would be tough to justify four defensive backs as part of the 15, but if we can get another to count toward last year it would probably work out.
It's sort of interesting that Fagnano was on Georgia's list to poach from PSU.
