I know his methods ruffled a lot of feathers, but damnit if the man doesn't get results (Cael and BO'B).
No doubt. Success in the game and are classy out of the game.
Wasn't Cael hired prior to Joyner?
Joyner is still the biggest a$$hole currently not in jail. He can go away and never comeback and psu would be much better off. He is a complete d!ck
He wasn't the A.D., but I thought he was on the search committee and was the driving force behind getting Cael to leave his alma-mater for us...I could be wrong though, but that's what I thought...
People don't like him, but they have no good reason. It is irrational. Everyone got really angry when BOB was hired, blamed Joyner, started to hate Joyner, and even though BOB is great they haven't reappraised those feelings for Joyner. It's nonsense.
“We’re doing things we couldn’t imagine,” says safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong. “But we’re doing them together.”
I agree, Joyner might be a jerk but since he seems to be able to hire good coaches I really don't care considering I will probably never actually meet the guy in my life.
Dominate The State
No he is an asshole. Go ask his partner in the coaching hunt if he will ever trust or work with him again.
I could care less what his partner thinks of him or if his partner would work with him again...Maybe I wouldn't want to go get a beer and bullshit with the guy, but the common denominator in our recent tremendous coaching hires is Joyner. So he deserves credit for that.
Great thought. Psu is still about doing things the right way. And that is otpissing on the alumni and former letterman and friends of the program, many including some of bob staff wish he would be gone
He has only one hire to his name. He had little to do with Cael. That was all Lubert.
OB he gets credit for. He's still a first class jerk, and what he did to Sherburne was low class.
My bad on the Cael thing, I knew he was involved and I thought I remembered someone saying he was the driving force behind that too...
Point is, we all thought we knew better than him on who to hire and how to go about the process, but in the end Joyner showed us that he knew better than us. The best decisions aren't always the ones that make everyone happy.
PSU AD has to do one thing - Hire a good football coach.
The hires made prior to Joyner have all been good. Credit to Curley.
Chambers, Washington, Sanderson, and Wine have all been as good as advertised.
Once season over, or maybe next year, think about redoing the contracts of the asst coaches & O'Brien to get them in line with contemporaries & keep them happy.
I have seen enough to know Obrien deserves a raise.
Say what you want about Joyner, he succeeded in doing the only thing he needed to do.
I dont care if he wants to stay on as AD.

He was on the BoT up until last December, which means he was part of that massive clusterf*ck in November. That alone makes me not like him. Yes, I give him some credit for O'Brien, but I will never get over last November and the sheer incompetence spewing from Old Main.

From reading some articles on Erickson it seemed like Joyner would stay till Erickson left. Am I wrong?
If you really think that's all that the PSU AD has to do, then our position as the best overall athletic department in the Big Ten is about to come to an end. There are infinite things that an AD does that we never see, and go well beyond hiring a single coach. This is why most people believe Joyner is completely ill-equipped for the position he was handed. Time will tell, but a few years down the line is when we'll likely feel the damage of having an acting AD who isn't qualified for the position.
Not to mention the fact that he is another piece of scum from the Board that devastated our university.
