Here is how highly viewed Dukes was before the season started: Syracuse didn't want him when he was attempting to abandon ship
Dukes Has always seemed to have the talent, but from everything you read talent is not the problem. You can't have a 1st time head coach selling That education is important then start a guy that is not going to class. If he works hard and keeps his nose clean I'm sure we will see more of him. O'brien seems like a nonsense type of guy and is going to put up with any bs regardless of how it will effect the product on the field.
I think Belton should start when healthy, but I've seen enough from Day and Zordich to want Dukes to get the majority of carries. Guys keep saying Dukes messes up, but in the action I've seen on the field I haven't seen it. Granted, coaches know the whole story, but for me based off of game action I'm starting Dukes when Belton is out and spelling him with Zordich.
Pecking order - didn't he miss all of spring practices but met with OB everyday to catch up and chat?
Just getting back into the swing of things and should be more of a factor I imagine moving forward especially conference time.
I think its what goalie said on page two: simply not ready.
It takes a while getting things down mentally, and I'd rather have him stay out until he's ready than go in and get somebody in the backfield killed.
I am excited to see what he does next spring game though, and I pray to God Iowa doesn't get back into the picture this offseason.

Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
good god every board/site has one. Found him
I think that is misleading because Syracuse HC Marrone has been a good friend of BOB's since they were at GT, so I think he just refused to poach a player from his pal.

I remember watching Dukes run the wrong way on a screen against Indiana State last year. Brutal.
The only thing I dont see is Dukes being soft up the middle. I really havent seen anything that would suggest that at all over the past two games. I think that is an unfair reason at this time until we at least see one play that backs that up.
Interesting that people see different things qatching same game. Dukes is obviously a good player, Zordich is more disciplined, at times athleticism makes up for short comings in execution others it hurts. IMO the only thing hirting Dukes is himself, add to that Z is a senior and one can figure it out.
IMO neither runner was all that impressive, both DUkes and Zord got decent amount of carries. Physical runners that carried and pushed the pile. It looks like either one of them is better than Day, while he has the heart he cannot hit the holes fast enough before they close. At least Dukes and Zord can push their way through.
