I mean, come on. In your world no UT fan is happy TAMU is doing well in the SEC and is probably going to win the Heisman. No UT fan is going to say, "good for them, I hope they recruit better because of it, as long as we don't lose out any to them."
It would never happen, and no PSU fan is going to root for Pitt - the only other school in PA with some semblance of a football program - to do well.
We will never own WPA. Nor should we try. Our recruiting lifeblood is New York/New England, Maryland, Northern Virginia, Central and Eastern PA, and New Jersey. That area can sustain a national title contender year in and year out.
If we can get a good one from WPA, Ohio, Michigan, NC, etc from time to time, great, but that is not going to be what gets us into title contention.
“We’re doing things we couldn’t imagine,” says safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong. “But we’re doing them together.”
I'm not sure Chryst is #1 on Barry's list. Darrell Bevell, the OC for the Seahawks, is probably number one. He played for Barry and has a pro pedigree.

We have had plenty of years when we controlled the WPA.....that will happen more in the future
When was that? We've gotten good players out of WPA, but we've never, EVER, controlled it. There are entire HS programs in WPA that won't let us in the door.

(VIP - Interesting development with the Paul Chryst - #Pitt/#Wisconsin saga @Panther_247 http://bit.ly/SGRIub
I'm a 247 subscriber, but can't read sPITT articles. anyone have a clue?
PC is no longer HC ....
riiiiiiight - i actually think he will stay at Pitt, wisconsin will go after someone else before him
Well we've been the dominant state school for close to a decade now, and we've been getting our tails whipped by OSU in PA recruiting. So if we're missing out on top in-state recruits, I'd rather them go to a program we don't play every year or compete with in our conference.
Ohio typically doesn't have an issue with losing their best in-state recruits to a conference rival, outside of the occasional UM commit that jumps.
I agree, we should step up and lock this state down. However if we miss on a prospect, I'd rather he go to a decent in-state "rival" that we don't play often or compete against in most anything, than go to OSU.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
I sort of hope PC stays as I dont think he will be a good HC...A good OC, yes, but not a HC. But I also would love for Pitt's revolving door to continue to spin.

"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
Doesn't look like they've quite figured out how to up/downvote things on their board yet, but FWIW nobody has upped the message yet. Lots of discussion going on, looks like its probably something significant. Have to believe there's been some kind of progress between Chryst and Wiscy, there wasn't much else to be said on the "Chryst is staying" side of the argument. Don't think Bob gets this antsy if its just more signs pointing towards him staying.
disagree - OSU will still get their top players whether its PA or not....i don't want Pitt getting them
I go to Penn State, and there is a sizable amount of Steelers fans who go to school with me. From dealing with them and listening to their conversations, if the Steelers were to stop being successful, they would switch to whatever Pittsburgh team was successful. Its not likely the Steelers under Rooney will do that, but if they were to I believe there would be a bump in Pitt's fanship.
There have been a few reports from other posters on here that they did a good job with attendance with their old on-campus stadium, albeit it was not very big.
Looks like a least a couple people on the "buckle your seatbelts" thread are assuming he's gone and tossing around replacement candidates...
"Austin, pay him well. And pay his staff well. We do this quick we can keep everyone. We won 6 far-fig newton games (hope this is fine) it's not like we had Knute Rockne. The key is this has to happen fast. Problem is it's going to drag on for a week, Chryst is going to leave, recruits are going to walk and boy genius is going to hire Lou tepper or the special teams coach for Akron."
If I were him I wouldn't want to stay there either
3-9 with their depth and defensive staff IMO.
If you give them the loss to YSU again, then 2-10. They just don't have enough quality talent there. Its a few studs (Graham, Shell, and their DT who I think is named Adams or something) and then a severe drop off to the rest of the guys on the roster. You obviously won't win many ball games when you're playing 3 vs 11.
Agree to disagree. The teams I saw 3 of the last 4 games of the season looks very different than the one that played against YSU and Cinci.
Also, from a twitter search of "Chryst"
"Not feeling as optimistic about Chryst staying at #Pitt as I was yesterday."
"Chryst needs to show some integrity here. The revolving chair if coaches and conference jumping has almost ruined FBS FB."
"@BTNRickPizzo: Told by source that Chryst's reported $6M buyout would NOT be dealbreaker for UW if both sides agree on Madison reunion.”
"@TheBadgerNation: told by Pitt source Chryst's $6 million buyout can be paid in installments, making it easier for #Badgers to pay it off"
Somebody responded to Bob L's announcement of new info with "sigh..."
General Trend: Lots of Wiscy people wanting him, lots of Pitt fans sounding worried.
Guys, Chryst will go to Wiscy.
Like I said earlier, the first immutable law of the football universe is that whenever bad things happen to PSU, worse things happen at Pitt. It stands to reason that with the NCAA sanctions occurring this year, Pitt will lose their 15th HC in 4 years.
Well Alvarez has known about BB leaving the program for a few weeks now, and supposedly PC hasn't gotten the offer yet. If he does get it there is very little doubt in my mind that he takes the offer, and then the B1G adds another solid coach to the ranks.
However he hasn't accepted anything yet, which makes me think there is no offer.
As much as I have defended PC, I feel that he still has a lot of learning to do before he reaches his ceiling, and there are other coaches out there who have more experience and have cut their teeth on something better than Big East competition.
UT fans are more upset that their season/team has imploded for three seasons in a row than they are about their little brother running away to another conference.
It is a completely different scenario there though, since Texas already has the state on lockdown and essentially has their pick of the litter and aTm has been recruiting well for quite some time. PSU doesn't lock down the state, and their hasn't been much in-state competition from the other schools outside of the 5* who goes to Pitt each year. IMO the better school to say this about would have been TCU before they joined the B12, and now would be SMU if they could get their act together.
Also, speaking as an OU fan, I think its hilarious that the program that got slapped around by OU and Texas regularly is doing so well in their inaugural season in the SEC. They were a better team last season, and still managed to lose to OU and Texas, but now with a freshman QB and a new coaching staff they're destroying another conference. That's hilarious. Makes the B12 look better IMO.
That being said, OU won't beat aTm unless Landry gets his head out of his ass (tall order there, he's had a case of the retards in big games since he got to OU) and the OL gets healthy. We've proven that we can't run the ball effectively unless DD gets a ton of space. Oh, and Saunders got caught with pot, so the top receiving threat is out too. Should be a great game though, just wish it was in the Cotton Bowl instead of the abomination that is JerryWorld.
