I got this from the blue board - there wasn't a link given but here's the quote:
"The reason the SEC is talked about all the time is one team, because of their dominance. But I didn't come here to play Alabama. I came here to beat Alabama.
You can take Saban's record when he was at Michigan State and when he was a coach in the Big Ten and put it against mine, and he can't compare." - Bret Bielema
Already making friends - lol man I'm going to laugh when Saban just rolls Arky.
I'll say this, Bretty Boy has balls.
You'll see them buried 10 feet under the turf later this year, where they will remain until he is fired in a few for never beating Bama.
This is classic Bielema. Can't wait to see him get steam rolled by Bama!!!
"DOMINATE the state" - James Franklin 1/11/14
I think Bret feels that the big 10 is respected down south which is not true at all. Comparing records a a previous job is idiotic. just shut up and beat him if your such a better coach
Not very smart from him. Saben is best coach in football. Period. All he needs is more bulletein board material.
While I don't think he's the best coach in football, if you're going to say that you should learn to spell his name.
Bretty Boy always had balls. He calls a spade a spade. He has to say this. That said, he will get rolled in Fayetteville. I don't think his schemes work as much in the SEC - especially against the LSU and Bamas of the world
Kind of like how Rex Ryan said he didnt come to New York to kiss BB's rings? It endears you to your fan base...until you cannot deliver. Ha.
"PSU a 3 to 4 win team" - New-era, September 2012
Brett doesn't have balls he has two brain cells and one is on spring break
I think Lane Kiffin tried this tactic
Jim Harbaugh did at Stanford. Worked out well there.
I feel bad for the Arkansas players, they have virtually no shot of staying within 30 points of Bama. Maybe if they put the backups in they'll be able to score a field goal?
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
Big 10 isn't respected much outside the states that have a member school in their borders. JMO.
Similar to the way the Big 12 is viewed up here.
I completely agree. Until we start winning championships again we won't get any respect from the rest of the country
I think when you compare the SEC to the PAC 12, and Jim vs Brett as coaches you see a big difference. Just sayin
Oh I agree. And the fact that Harbaugh is actually a very good coach.
BB is a fool. All he accomplished is ensuring that Saban beats him by 40 points instead of 20.
I think there is more respect for the Big XII here than for the Big Ten outside of it's footprint.
They have a good relationship with the West Coast. In a lot of ways, the Pac 12 and big 10 are similar in culture.
Black Shoes. Basic Blues. No Name. All Game.
Brett needs to take a page from Sumlin at A&M. He went there and beat Bama head to head, is going recruit for recruit with them and has not said a word.
BB is a quieter Lane Kiffin IMO. Came from the same D bag mold.
Bama does not need bulletin board material and will demolish Arkansas this year just for shits and giggles.
I'd be surprised if this were true, but it's certainly possible.
In my experience with northern fans, the Big 12 is regarded as a cupcake conference with OU and Texas (who get way more respect up here than they deserve IMO). Not exactly fair IMO, but neither is the way the B1G is viewed nationally.
Well, if you ask me...
Texas and OU are upper tier programs... but Texas stinks right now because Mack Brown is old and out of touch (sound familiar?). Tech was good for a couple of years, but has fallen. Baylor has rised, but they will slip back again. Kansas is a joke. K-State will be down as soon as Snyder leaves. OSU looks to be a good, solid team. TCU is odd... they should be good as long as their coach stays, but who knows if he leaves. ISU is historically a joke. WVU is mediocre... they were living a lie in the Big East.
Right now, I think the Big XII and Big Ten are pretty equal in terms of quality, but it looks like the Big Ten is heading up while the Big XII is falling. JMO.
I agree with all of that.
OkieState is a solid program now, I really like what Gundy has done there. I actually like him quite a bit, despite the fact that he hates OU. Patterson is a genius, but TCU's alumni base has gone full retard and the kids they've been bringing in have SERIOUS character issues. If they can keep these kids out of jail (not likely IYAM), then they'll be competitive.
Texas is a sleeping giant, and as a program is actually very similar to PSU during the 2000s. A couple great, great coordinators/position coaches (Muschamp/Applewhite) and a few great players (Vince, Colt) kept afloat a program that was anchored down by an aging coach and a miserable coordinator given too much responsibility (Greg Davis, Iowa's new OC ). However, their HC outlasted the old staff, but the much needed housecleaning came too late, and Mack is obviously way past his prime. If they get a high level HC in there, watch out. Right now, Mack lets his coordinators run the ship, which has led to an UNBELIEVABLE amount of infighting and power struggles, which led to the miscommunication issues and the crap they've put on the field the past few years. For one, I hope they turn things around if for no other reason than for the sake of the rivalry. They've embarrassed the Red River Shootout with their play the past few seasons. The greatest rivalry in the country is deserving of two of the greatest teams in the country, not a very good team (OU) beating the living bejesus out of a team who's full of primadonnas on both the coaching staff and roster (Texas the past few years). Sorry for the rant.
I love Art Briles as a coach, and he's made Baylor a team that can beat almost anybody on any given Saturday. Weis is a joke at KU, agreed there. Snyder is a HoF'er, but he's taken KSU just about as far as they can go. They simply cannot sustain the success once he moves on again.
As a whole, its sad to see what happened to the Big 12. It was a very, very good conference as little as 6 years ago, but has gone down the drain with the commish and his worshipping/asskissing of Texas.
"SABAN" is the best defensive mind in football. This coming from Bill Belichick. Not a bad compliment. He may not be the best coach in all of football but he is certainly in the top 3. IMO.
