Apparently Bobby Petrino, who has been about as unethical as you could be during his coaching stints, is interested in coaching at Kentucky.
So Kentucy would be the school that hires NCAA manipulator John Callipari and then Mr. Ethics Bobby Petrino?
But, yeah, we had a culture problem.
Petrino may be interested, but I'm not sure the feeling is mutual.
After perusing the KU cheer leading squad Petrino said yeah I'm interested, who wouldn't be.
While I think it would be an interesting match and Petrino can bring some much needed excitement into that program, I can't see why Mitch Barnhart would even consider him from the simple standpoint of his departure in Fayetteville. UKY fans HATE Petrino with a passion. He was the coach at Louisville and ran it up on them a few times. Football is and will always be a second seat to men's hoops and rightfully so. It's not a good job. The state is lousy at football and you are getting nothing more than second and third leftovers from Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee and a few other states.
I can see a good assistant coach possibly making the jump, like a Morris at Clemson or a Pease from Florida. I'm hoping Sonny Dykes gives pause before showing interest in this, since I think he could do better.
JMO, as far as Petrino, I can see him at Auburn - easily.

Whoa hey now!
My ex-girlfriend is on that squad.

Interesting thought, I don't know how his dad left Texas Tech.
However, if Tommy Tuberville leaves Texas Tech...I would have to think Dykes would be the first call by their AD.
Don't know if there is weight to the speculation, but ESPN thinks Tuberville would be a draw for an SEC school (especially cause they can get their hands on his assistants - Brown looks like a potential coaching star on the offensive side)
Actually, I think Tuberville would be a great fit for Arkansas, if he wants to bolt. Arkansas hasn't had any defensive presence since Lou Holtz was there. That said, I think Charlie Strong gets the gig in Fayetteville if he wants it ... JMO.
I know its coaching in the SEC, but would you really leave UL for Arkansas right now? Beat up on the Big Least, get to a couple BCS bowl games, take a premier job in a few years.
Your right KY doesn't produce much BCS-level talent, but the facilities...I hear are pretty nice at UL and Strong knows how to recruit Florida.
Like you said, its if he wants it. JMO, I would hold out for a premier level job.
Feeling is indeed mutual. Tennessee and Auburn, if they fire Chizik, wil also be after him. It is all anybody down here can talk about, especially from the Auburn side.
Petrino will coach again and I think it will be in the SEC. UK rents kids for a year with no intentions of them ever graduating in b-ball. We really think they have some moral line when it comes to football? Auburn would hire satan himself if they knew he would beat Saban.

"One man didn't build this program and one man sure as hell cannot tear it down."
Strong's dream is to be a head coach in the SEC. That is a known fact. He is downplaying all this now, saying he is staying at Louisville, only because the Cardinals are undefeated and will more than likely end up in a BCS bowl. Sounds like the story of another former Big East coach in the same situation not too long ago that denied he was moving, but ended up at one of the most tradition laden programs on earth.
Louisville's facilities are nice. Jurich has done a great job there. However, it doesn't have the cache of Arkansas. I wouldn't be shocked if Tennessee came calling for Strong, which is even a better job than in Fayetteville. He won't answer the phone for the job in Lexington, nor should he.
Actually, you read my mind about Tennessee - I was going to mention them as the more likely shift. I have no doubt that Strong would heavily consider the Tennessee job...I just don't see him reaching for Arkansas (although I agree its the much better program than UL).
Don't forget this nugget - Charlie strong was born and raised in Arkansas.
Hmm, I actually didn't know that.
Some major Auburn rumblings right now. Something is about to happen there, I'd assume coaching related.
I don't think Strong would be interested in that gig after the Turner Gill debacle a few years ago when Chidzik got the gig. Petrino supposedly is the play there. However, I'm not sure that is the smart move based on his departure from Fayetteville coupled with potential NCAA sanctions in the near future for recruiting violations.
Not that this has anything to do with a potential pending opening at Auburn, but find this very amusing.
Lots of chatter about Louisville OC Shawn Watson for Auburn.
Report is Chizik will be gone at seasons end.......possibly this weekend
