Finebaum made mention of some investigative reporting and some possible breaking news this week. Sounded like an NCAA violation type story, possibly including Alabama. Anyone hear anything or know what this potential story may consist of?
BacardiBuckeye: "But in all honesty I like Penn State, I want to see Penn State do good that's why I check this board everyday." 4/2/14
The Duke/Lance Thomas story could be huge. We don't know much yet.
“We’re doing things we couldn’t imagine,” says safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong. “But we’re doing them together.”
Coach K is the next untouchable to fall
And ESPN will enjoy every last second of it
I hope not. I really respect that guy.
Not sure they had any idea he was doing this so it will be tough to pin on the Coach. It doesn't mean they won't slam the coach, but I doubt Coach K knew about the kid getting 30k somehow to buy 100k in bling. If that is the whole story which I'm not even sure of (just lack of knowledge).
"One man didn't build this program and one man sure as hell cannot tear it down."
I agree Coach K prob. didnt know about it because somewhere here (or maybe it was TAP) said they knew a big AAU coach and he said Coach K turned his eye away from recruiting issues, which I would bet 90% (at least) big time college coaches in both basketball and football do. I respect Coach K a lot regardless.
I just feel bad for any program/school that will just be another pawn put through the woodshed for the media cluelessness, albeit probably extremely light compared to what we went and continue to go through (see UNC case and just about every other recent case).
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
Saw a thread mention this on tBB. Not really sure what it involves. Will be interesting though, to say the least.
"DOMINATE the state" - James Franklin 1/11/14
But but but Coach K HAD to know. The kid was probably wearing that $100k worth of bling in the locker room. Coach K had to know the difference between CZ and real diamonds. :-/

Finebaum is an SEC whore. I'd imagine this has something to do with that league and not anywhere else. Pick a school, sans Vandy, and you have many possibilities. Could be Auburn; could be LSU ... I think I saw something where one of the Mississippi schools was being investigated.
If they didn't nail UNC and its football/men's hoops program for academic fraud, they aren't touching Coach K. I think he is actually one of the good guys and I don't say that too frequently about coaches.
The NCAA hates guys who do things the right way. They hate the conservative values that Joe and Coach K both had. Look at UNC getting nothing, yet they are notorious for wrongdoings unlike Duke.
I have one upvote left, and I am not afraid to use it!!!
1)Take anything Finebaum says with a grain of salt. Did he out the Auburn Bag Man yet?
2)Nothing will happen to Coach K or Duke. Reason being is that the general public does not care about stuff like this. Most assume college sports are corrupt and that most players are on the take. People were disgusted by Sandusky and the idea of a possible cover up. Most formed strong opinions based on half truths and misinformation. Didn't matter. The media fed the outrage of John Q. Public to the point that the NCAA had to act. We may be the only program in history to face major sanctions while never committing an actual violation. Now that the NCAA has their scalp, they can go back under their rock and let the UNC, USC, and SEC's of the world cheat their hearts out.

This makes zero sense.
When it comes to the NCAA...that's the point.

It is meant to point out the corruption that is the NCAA. They punish those who do the right thing while turning a blind eye to everything else. It all starts at the top with Emmert.
The NCAA is corrupt without question. Under Emmert's reign, he turned a blind eye to Auburn buying Cam Newton and a national title and UNC with academic fraud - two of the core principles of the NCAA Manual. I have no faith in it doing the right thing to Oregon, Miami, USC hoops and pick your SEC school sans Vandy. PSU didn't commit an NCAA infraction as egregious as of an act as it was. However, don't think PSU did the right thing. It didn't.
Not sure if this is what the OP is referring to but it looks like the Tarheels are once again in the news for the wrong reason.
Matt Kupec, a former star quarterback for UNC-Chapel Hill who became its chief fundraiser, resigned Sunday night after an internal investigation showed that he and his girlfriend s expense.
Believe it when I see it. NCAA already hooked their big fish with us, now they're just going to throw all the others back until a couple years have passed and they feel they need to hammer another school to stay relevant.
I think it may have to do with Auburn?
UNC is blatantly an issue. I know that they are a top 3 program in Bball, but it must be getting difficult to look the other way on their systematic institutional failures of control. Sure seems that UNC has a serious culture problem that runs afoul of the NCAA's mission.
- Systematic Academic Fraud
- Agents paying, entertaining players
- Hiring family members to questionable positions, paying on-going travel expenses, while dating..
That's the word..
Good, they sold their soul, now it's time to pay up. I have never been more disgusted than when Chizik was talking about our sanctions. That scumbag will be out of a job at the rate he's going
Chizik had no business speaking about our sanctions when you consider his program benefitted from buying a player and his old man to win a title.
Auburn is 0-2 as we speak and is getting ready for UL-Monroe, the team that upset Arkansas. Very well could be 0-3 and the vulchars would be circling in the Plains.
