What exactly happened with Franco? I can't find any details anywhere. Until I know what went down, I don't know what to think of it.
As far as Ben Jones is concerned, I actually always liked him because he was a big supporter of the basketball program, but he seemed to go down the Ron Musselman path once they started working at the same place. I don't blame anyone for criticizing his latest tweet.
Mussleman didn't last there long, he's been gone for a few months.
I agree with everything here. Franco chasing Emmert around has nothing to do with any of it. In fact, it is a distraction.
He's another turd blossom ala Cory Giger.
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
I did so too
"A bowl game ain't nothing but a vacation." - Gerald Hodges
I am with you on this. OSU and PSU not the same. I doubt that they would ever want to trade places with us.
I see that everyone on this board is tired of Ben Jones and I get that. He doesn't bother me. I follow him on twitter as much for his tweets and coverage of other PSU sports. What gets me though is that I really want the facts to come out and have a fair hearing. Personally, I am reserving judgement on all actors in this scandal (except Jerry) until after the CSS trials. When the facts come to light, whatever they may be, I want PSU be represented in the public by better than this Zeigler guy. When I go to his website I see a nut. Him being the face of the people who question the Freeh report isn't a good thing.
I am a lifelong Steelers and PSU fan. I love Franco. I love his passion. I don't want him to be come a caricature. I don't want to see him becomes someone the media starts to dismiss because he gets tagged as the guy who is following Emmert around with a cardboard cutout of Joe.
This is an honest question because I don't know...
Which Ohio State player said OSU's punishment wasn't fair?
"Playing here is the closest thing to heaven on earth..." - Brian Rolle
Ben Jones is perfect for the media and most of the uninformed citizen of our nation. He sits perfectly on a fence and moves with the flow. If you actually press him to explain more or get into greater detail he will either not respond or look like a damn fool.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
We actually cooperated thoroughly with the NCAA and self disclosed everything. How is that telling the NCAA that??
He is using his capital to put pressure on those that, in his opinion, have wronged Penn State.
While Franco and Ziegler may be somewhat aggressive in their approach, they aren't doing anything illegal. What is more telling is the response from Emmert and others that they have confronted. If they were secure in their position, there would be no reason to hide.

I was referring to OSU there.

I think Ben has been very fair. I do not agree with everything he says or all of his points, but for the most point I think he has done a very good job. It seems to me that if anyone says anything that might be taken as anti-penn state, then they are media hacks, self promoters, misinformed or all of the above. I know a lot of people on these boards love Zigler, but I think he goes to extremes as well. I did not like some of his posts that downplayed O'Brien and his accomplishments this year.
Sorry for being a bit unclear. I wasn't talking about a comment by an Ohio State player. I was referring to a tweet by Ben Jones talking about the sanctions being unfair to OSU players. Here's the tweet:
"Want to talk fairness, talk to an undefeated Ohio State team that can't go to a bowl game because of a fired coach and a now NFL player"
Background info: Jones is tweeting back and forth with Penn State fans about Franco Harris and John Ziegler confronting the NCAA prez. Several PSU people point out that it's completely unfair that we have to deal with the sanctions and that is why they don't mind Franco and Ziegler confronting Emmert. And then Jones fires at them with this tweet.
Now for the record, I'm not saying that it doesn't suck for guys like John Simon and the current OSU players to have to sit out of a bowl after such a great season this year. But instead of being rational and saying something along the lines of "yes the sanctions are not fair, but the actions of Harris and Ziegler won't help change anything etc. etc." he says this ridiculous tweet.
In his attempt to not in anyway look "pro-PennState" to outsiders he basically says that what OSU had to deal with this year is more unfair and worse than what Penn State players have to go through - and implies that it's totally fair what happened to guys like Mauti and Morris because of Sandusky (who retired 12 years ago) but that it's unfair for Ohio State to be punished since Tressel resigned and the Tat-5 are already gone.
In an attempt to be a contrarian and act like the smartest guy in the room he made the most ridiculous comment I've seen on twitter from someone not 100% trolling.
