Just saw on ESPN where members of the board are filing an appeal this afternoon. this should be interesting
I just saw this as well. Attached is the link.
At least two Penn State Board of Trustees members intend to file an appeal Monday with the NCAA over sanctions levied against the university after the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal because they say the NCAA did not give the school due process.

Love it. It needs to happen.
Bout fvcking time.
9 Months in, someone on the BoT does something right.
Is this a backbone I see?
I bet they realized just how ba dthey screwed up when most big time donors said they were through giving money after their latest blunder.
However, I fully expect them to somehow screw this up just like everything else this year until they show me otherwise.

I hate to get my hope up on something like this but HELL YA!
A Seal, you know he's got balls!
FINALLY. All I want is the truth. If they find evidence then by all means punish us to all hell but I want to actually SEE the evidence. Hopefully the "you just don't get it" crowd learns how to read in the meantime and see's how little evidence actually exist.
An appeal should have been automatic from the start. Look at what is going on now with the NFL and Jonathan Vilma. He appealed right away and now there is talk of cutting his ban in half.
I just wonder how Erickson and the rest of the board will reply to this. It seems like its the guys who got voted in that are filing the appeal.
I'm not trying to be a doom and gloomer here but since our fearless leader big Rod signed the consent decree or whatever, what can seriously be done? He technically consulted with the executive board or at least a member or two on whether or not he had the right to sign off on the decree without the board having knowledge of the sanctions and voting whether to accept it or not.
the way Emmert is tho, i could see this backfiring on us and making things worse
Agree with this 100 percent.
Have to imagine Lubrano is the other BOT member already joined. Unfortunately, two vertebrae do not a backbone make.
We've had this rug pulled out from under us before. I'll wait to see what actually happens before getting excited that our leadership has a semblance of a spine. If this carries through...it will be very interesting to see how it ends.
Appeal will definitely be squashed immediately. It's the federal lawsuit that is the big step (albeit from a voted on BoT member another unknown others at this point.)
Can they increase the severity of the punishments if PSU loses?
That's my concern. Like him saying: "eff this, what did I tell you about appealing these sanctions, 4 year death penalty applied immediately."
This is just a couple of the new guys. The majority of the board accepted getting hosed. The interesting question will be if a minority number of BoT members can legally appeal something the majority of the board has accepted/agreed to.
So then what happens with the lawsuit? PSU vs. NCAA, I get that much. Does PSU just try to have the sanctions reduced, fully whipped away based on no NCAA due process?
If he did that, then PSU would be entitled to an appeal unless they sign off on it again.
I don't see why or how, but I've been surprised before.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
I thought he already came out and said that was never an option.
This guy has stones. A champion rises from the ashes.
