Man. Stop making sense...
WE ARE! And we will always be...
Good news my friend, public universities and public schools still operate on private property. If students complain or call the police for a disorderly individual (or harassment), he can/will be asked to leave.
He's been removed from campus multiple times in the past for his behavior, they just haven't barred him from campus or given him a no trespass notice, which is why he's free to return.
I have no issues with individuals who have been targeted with insults filing harrassment charges--that's an appropriate response.
When it has happened to me, I've shrugged it off as idiotic people and went on my way. But a target certainly has the right to choose otherwise.
As long as he doesn't get shut down because people disagree with his worldview, than I'm fine with it. That's the line that shouldn't be crossed.
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
Whole heartedly agree.
I concur. The Willard dude is more like the Westboro Baptists who protest Service men & women funerals than not. Freedom of speech or not.
I agree with this stance. If he crosses the line, file and he should be gone. But he cannot be barred generally. He has a right to say whatever he wants.
I actually agree with you here.
I'm going to say Bench, but I think Hack is the best qb on the team as soon as he gets to campus.
The professor gave him exactly what he wanted. End of story.
Did not think the prof sounded angry, passionate but not angry or irrate. Prof IMO made good points. I went to PSU Behrend, so I did not have to listen to this guy, but enjoyed the crack pots in Speakers Corner in London, this guy sounds similar. See link on Speakers Corner.
Either this website doesn't exist or is not currently available.
I respect everyone's opinion, they have a right to say what they want. That being said...i don't force my opinion on anyone...i'm glad the professor said something to him. Sure, its what he wants...but at the end of the day we have rights too. I don't think any student/professor should have to listen to this knucklehead spew garbage everyday when they enter or leave a building. It becomes down right annoying. If he wants to preach he can do it from a street corner, not on campus. On a street corner, people can avoid him if they don't want to listen...where he is now is unavoidable for many people because they need to access the building.
Maybe he should be hired to attend Emmeret's next speech.
Being a Christian I agree with a lot of what the Willard Preacher says, but his delivery is all wrong. You're not going to bring people to God by chasing them around and telling them they're going to hell. It's like the old SNL skit where Chris Farley is trying to convince the kids if they smoke pot they'll end up living in a van down by the river. Goes in one ear and out the other.
The Christian message is one of love, grace, and hope. If he preached it the way it's supposed to be preached he would see greater results. The fact that he doesn't tells me he's an attention whore.
It is all part of having a public campus. Public forum is a great way to provoke thoughts. Regardless of what you believe in, he gets people to think. So did this professor.
onward state has an interview with him, the story i heard was he sold his sole to the devil, and he gets to live two more days for every one day he spends preaching the word of the lord to students
this sounds like a man who is completely sane and should remain a functional member of society.. how does this guy not get a restraining order from the university after admitting that? have we not learned anything from vtech, aurora, sandy hook and all the other tragedies involving crazed people?
If he did say something to a random girl as she walked by and called her something awful, then the professor is 100% in the right. Anyone who argues this has serious issues. He can preach all he wants, 99% of students just walk by and ignore it. However, once he crosses that line and accuses someone he does not know of being a whore or slut - that is no longer preaching or free speech, that is harrassment. Although this is what he wants, I cannot wait for the day he crosses the line to the wrong person and gets knocked out.
Therre was a Willard preacher in the mid 70's. He was just a fire and brimstone kind of guy and everyone seemed to just ignore him-he never called out women!
He is not just espousing his viewpoint. I would be ok with it, if that was all he was doing...annoyed, but ok. What he IS doing is harassing students and verbally abusing the female students. This is not acceptable and actually should be firmly dealt with. Simply my 2 cents.
Well, this guy ain't your ole Willard preacher...
He's not a Christian though, which is why his message is not one of love, grace, and faith. I'm a Christian as well, and study doctrine and theology in my spare time. The guy is pure orthodoxy, which claim to be Christians, but they aren't. He doesn't believe in a faith based faith, he believes you earn faith. To the orthodoxy belief, the Bible is not whole, while other theologians correct issues in the Bible throughout time. His message is a message of self-worth, not a message of Christ. He constantly rebukes Protestants and Catholics for their belief in Christ, claiming it has no standing with God.
Not starting a religious debate here, I just wanted to clarify in any way possible that this guy is not a Christian, even though he claims he is.
Yes, I agree with you that he is an attention whore.
Nope-he be the new sheriff in town
From a female point of view, if he called me or one of my daughters a whore, you better believe I would be on the phone calling the police. No one deserves to be harassed like that. That doesn't sound like he's walking a fine line there, it appears he has clearly crossed it. I can't believe any parent would be comfortable with their daughter being called names like that for simply trying to go to class. Totally unacceptable in my book.
