The issue with your scenario (and I know you were just admittedly grasping at straws) is that...
1) PSU let the NCAA follow the Freeh group
2) Freeh's job wasn't to find NCAA issues and he didn't... he was looking for criminal activity and compliance issues.
3) You can't fault NCAA with a tampered investigation when the NCAA didn't investigate.
What helps PSU with the Miami situation is that it's just another huge thorn in their side and makes it less likely for them to fight PA if the courts decide to that the Commonweath has standing.
Until such time as a court finds standing with one of the plaintiffs. NCAA will want nothing to do with opening their books through discovery. If Corbett's suit passses this hurdle, I wouldn't be shocked when we start hearing about settlement negotiations within a couple months. We just need a court to find one of these cases has standing.
On a side note, I wonder if the Paterno's would consider filing suit against Freeh as well as the NCAA? Could PSU ever consider filing suit against Freeh by arguing they accepted the consent decree based on his faulty investigation? I would guess this would depend on how instrumental certain members of the BoT's were in guiding the outcome.
Oh I think Freeh could be a target of the Paterno's.
Wouldnt worry too much about that.
Considering influential board members are in bed with Freeh. That will never happen unless the BOT is restructured. Some BOT members have too much to lose personally in bed with Freeh and the Second Mile. IMHO, if the truth comes out a few BOT members will at the very least be embarassed and worse case be found out to be involved somehow with Sandusky and/or Corbett.
Isn't it true that Sandusky was in a luxury box with several BOT members Joe's last game? Just days before everything hit the fan?
Catchy phrase or quote
The story I heard was that he more or less showed up uninvited to the NLC box at the Illinois. I don't think he was there as anyone's guest and supposedly got a cold shoulder from most people there.
Someone in SC should be on the lookout for the trucks that may or may not be on the way.
What kind of trucks?
I'm guessing media trucks?
If this is an accurate statement then I dont believe its the Paterno family. Their law firm is King and Spalding in washington d.c. if my memory serves me correctly. Id have to believe this is the former players or something bigger... Im sure media trucks will be in full force if its the latter. Only time will tell.
The kind with 4 letters on them.
Does anyone know if the former players are working with ps4rs to file a law suit? if so, I believe they are using rhoads and simon lpp based out of harrisburg, pa.
Just saw another note (not msg board or Twitter) indicating the shitty four letter network will have something of interest on OTL at 9am on Sunday. Hard to imagine it being fair or positive for PSU/Joe but maybe they've determined they wrung all the juice out of the negative stories.
