This has gotten shockingly little publicity. I've heard about Lizzy Seeberg for a while. Just absolutely insane to me how a school can so easily dismiss this. Brian Kelly himself asked why reporters were spending time on it.
Really? I guess since she's dead, it's not worth finding out what happened.
Without names like Joe Paterno to attach to the story, it doesn't sell. Simple.
If this happened at PSU, or USC, I would have been national. They are treating this like the Iowa deal. It's ND. The media doesn't want to do anything to take the spotlight off of its historic season.
This happened a couple years ago. ND wasn't having historic seasons back then.
How about the very first comment, where the ND apologist argues how this is nothing "like Sandusky". He claims there is evidence of years of cover ups in that case. I try not to read comments anymore because of ignoramus' like that. I am of the opinion that if you don't know about something, you should shut up about it. And almost everyone around the country has no clue about the facts of the Sandusky/Penn State situation. Unfortunately it doesn't stop them from yapping about it.

Thanks for posting. This is shocking and saddening. I hope more light will be shed and can only pray for her family. Can't imagine the sense of rage they must feel.
"You can take bowl games and you can take external things from people, but you can't take a warrior's heart."
At the end they say "Penn state just did it longer". That is true, but it DOESN'T make it right!!!
If this kind of stuff is covered up at ND...how do they know? Isn't that the whole point of covering things up?
That's ASSUMING that there was a cover-up...still yet to be proven. Maybe Penn State did not "do it longer!" I wish everyone would stop stating there was a cover-up like it was a proven fact.
Brian Kelly is becoming a pretty big target in his own right. He has some splaining to do on why this player is still on the team.
It's a deadspin article, but references go back to mid-1970's. Apparently there was a 2002 case with four players gang-raping a woman. None got jail time, and only one was convicted.
In 2011, a woman claimed to have been raped by a football player and got text after text from friends of players trying to silence her. "The woman did not go to school officials specifically because of what had happened to Seeberg, and because she's afraid she'll lose her scholarship if she does."
Sad that things like this continue to occur.
Last week, the National Catholic Reporter published a lengthy piece on reported sexual assaults at Notre Dame. Its fulcrum is the case involving Lizzy Seeberg, a 19-year-old freshman at nearby St. Marys College who committed suicide in September 2010, just 10 days after she was allegedly sexually assaulted by a Notre Dame football player. That case led the civil rights office of the U.S. Department of Education to launch a seven-month investigation of Notre Dame that last summer resulted in a settlement agreement.
@bills62. ND is a Catholic school. The players do what Father does, not what Father says! (and I'm Catholic!)
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
