Given the recent statements from the Paterno family and continued questions from the community regarding Coach Paterno's firing, we'd like to further clarify our clarification of the clarified statements for the 6th time that we were originally forced to make because we didn't think through what would happen and that we would be expected to answer to anyone outside the board since we've pretty much been left alone to screw up whatever we want without accountability up to this point, thus it was assumed that we would retain our above reproach status in how we handled the Paterno situation, but apparently not, so hopefully this is the last time we need to clarify our ever changing statements and expect this to be accepted for what we say.
Joe Paterno was fired for both a lack of morality AND lack of leadership, and also because we've been trying to do it for years now and sometimes you have to strike while the iron is hot if you know what we mean. And if there is a better reason that Joe should've been fired beyond lack of leadership and morality please forward it to us and we'll use it in our 7th clarification (we thought about going to the he didn't call the police card, but unfortunately nothing could've been done if he reported it as a second hand witness at the time, so we just loosely infer it since that seems to be where we can get the most support from the general public, and ESPN for that matter, it just doesn't seem to be accepted by a bunch of blindly biased fans who think Joe was some sort of special person that continued to run a clean program focused on building leaders, getting degrees and winning with honor - whatever that means - all we know is that the dude did a pretty good job of filling up the coffers, and that pays the bills given how lame the state funding is - so we had to keep him around whether we wanted to or not).
Joe was also fired because frankly he was about to go into a press conference and open up and say his part and tell the truth, and candidly that was the last thing that was needed at the time. I mean seriously, if the world thought that the entire administration of an esteemed nationally respected university was in on this and that the board, the president and the senior executive in charge of the police all buried this - oh and the soon to be governer who sat on it for 3 years during investigation and is also part of the BOT - it would've looked real bad if you know what we mean.
Therefore we had no choice but to isolate this as the work of either a senile or greedy man and leverage the general public's disdain for the amount of money and preference that collegiate football has on campus, and set the stage that this was about self-preservation, greed, football first from a man with too much power (which none of us ever liked anyway, finally a chance to show the old man who had the bigger cojones) - all of which we could remove by simply firing the villain behind it - Joe Paterno. At that point, we assumed that this would all go away since we removed the problem, in fact, to quote Jack Nicholson from a Few Good Men, "I'd rather you just say thank you and went on your way" but you haven't, which frankly is annoying since to quote the movie again the BOT "Doesn't give a damm what you think you're entitled to". But since it hasn't we've been compelled to continue to clarify our statements.
We look forward to continue to serve Penn State in our future terms on the BOT and Gov. Corbett's additional term as Governer, which given our blind incompetence and seeming lack of awareness to reality to this point, we easily all expect re-election.
Penn State BOT
Can we give this post of the year already?
"One man didn't build this program and one man sure as hell cannot tear it down."
This is great! No doubt the post of the year!
Some of the greatest run on sentences ever spoken on this board.
F the BOT.
F the NCAA
F the BOT
Great post, it is spot on. F the BOCowards.
Wow, it is like you can read their minds! It obvious from the BOT's statements and behavior that close to everything you said is in fact true...we know it and they know it. It's a shame the public doesn't know the truth.
Great parody. +
anyone else waiting to see ESPN run this? lol
PENN STATE FOREVER
10 nay 11 replies now and +48. POTY, IMHO!
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
That is some strong snark right there. Hope you like upvotes!
Penn Staters everywhere are smiling over your crystal-clear articulation of truth. And somewhere out west, a Nike executive is feeling even more certain that the truth will win out!
You win the internet for the day.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
