No Penn State guys on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd teams.
Whoever did not vote Mauti, Hill, Robinson at worst third team needs taken into the street tared and feathered then cast into a pit for their are a plague against all humanity and their genetic code holds back human advancement so help me Christ these people are are unfit failures
PENN STATE FOREVER
The AP must still be butthurt that we did as well as we did and proved pretty much everybody wrong.
"DOMINATE the state" - James Franklin 1/11/14
Yup. If there's a more logical explanation, I'm all ears.
Mauti not getting at least 3rd team was a little ridiculous, but I'm not going to argue about Robinson. Robinson still has room to improve and the receivers on the 3rd team list are pretty darn good.
Mauti is an ESPN All American and BOB is coach of the year
Interesting to note, the MAC (4) had almost as many AP All Americans as the B1G (6)

Who holds these votes? Writers?
Its hard with more teams running 3-4s those OLB are getting sacks...Look at 4 of the 9 AA were OLB in a 3-4. It is easy to say "wow that guy collected 18 TFL or 10 sacks" than Mauti played great in all fascets of the game, but didn't have the catchy numbers.
There are going to be less true linebackers winning these awards. Look at the NFL, how many probowlers OLB are 3-4 guys. It has increased significantly in the last few years.
The AP: the same voters that can be informed of cheating, re-vote, and still come up with the same results, eg. Brian Cushing(steroids)DRoY NFL and USC AP MNC.
Yeah, they ooze credibility.
meh, who cares. it wont change what they did in college and what they could do in the NFL.
even the 3rd team is full of excellent players, its not like some scrub made the A-A team over a PSU player.
Agreed... the AP are a bunch of idiots. Only go for the mainstream topics rather than overall performance. Thats why every accolade or award given in college football is a joke. Same goes for the BCS
So here's a link for those interested... 3rd team LB's Linebacker: Khaseem Greene Rutgers
Trent Murphy Stanford, Kyle Van Noy BYU. No Ryan Shazier either fwiw.
NCAA college football news, standings, trade rumors, scores, schedules and more 2012-13 coverage on Sporting News.
Agree on Robinson. He's very good, and only going to get better, but it's no rip on him to say he's not an AA.
That is different, however, than the situation with Mauti and Hill. You can debate all day long on which team (first, second, or third) they belong, but without a doubt these two are AAs. Mauti was probably going to be the second or third LB off the board on draft day before he got hurt.
The AP is only one of many all american teams. There are still several more to be announced; Walter Camp, Football Writers Association, Sporting News, etc.
That Rutgers LBer is deserving but the other two on 3rd team are a joke. Also I didn't look at the list but I'm guessing CJ Mosely is on one of those teams and that's a joke. If he played anywhere other than Bama, you wouldn't have seen his name anywhere on these lists.
BacardiBuckeye: "But in all honesty I like Penn State, I want to see Penn State do good that's why I check this board everyday." 4/2/14
If Shazier didn't even make the list either, the voting is a joke. He had a phenomenal season. I'll admit that even if he played for OSU.
Let us start naming our own Lions247 All-American team. The first team is automatically the starting twenty-two for Penn State. We'll also crown our own national champion, which will obviously be Penn State. Before anyone knows it, PSU will be able to claim more bogus national championships than Pitt!
In all seriousness though, the sheer number publications and media outlets giving out awards these days is ridiculous. Forty or more players will be able to claim that First Team All-America status. Multiple coaches will be able to call themselves the Coach of the Year. The process really is a bit ridiculous.
Mauti, Hill,Hodges, Stank not on 1,2,,or 3 team? What a joke. Do the writers even watch any of the football games or do they just vote for players on their favorite teams?
