The last thing we should do is place more emphasis on upvotes and downvotes.
Agreed man. +1.
I am way late on this one and this thread may have gone in a different direction (if so sorry), but if this is honoring Mauti and through extension all the other teamates of the 2012 team I am completely for it. We need to honor these guys and even classes coming in right now with a special place in PSU history..JMO...
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
That's why I mentioned the 2012 one, I feel like one for Mauti is kind of discrediting the other guys. A 2012 one could recognize the entire team, seniors to true freshman. And frankly, it was probably harder for the freshman to stick considering they will never play in a bowl game(as of now).
Mauti stands as a sort of iconic figure representing the sacrifice of the whole team. With the bond that these guys forged I dont think they would for one second begrude his number standing for everyone's sacrifice. Also the fact that he went down in the next to last game imperiling a future pro career underscores the sarcrifice further and demands special rememberance. No true PSU fan will forget the Jordan Hill's, the Hodges, Morris's and Zordich's just because - like they did - we pay a little more tribute the the guy that came out of his comfort zone and spoke up with his team behind him that day in July when things looked so dark...Just my 2cents..

You make it sound as if it's the answer to life, the universe, and everything.
Course its not the answer to everything. Football, in the scheme of things, is of no importance at all for that matter. But within a relatively unimportant sphere, if we're going to have hero's: Here's to Michael Mauti..
"Badges?? We don' need no stinking badges!"
Sorry, someone had to do it...
Mel Brook's classic spoof from "Blazing Saddles" (1974) of famous scene from Humphrey Bogart movie "Treasure of Sierra Madre" (1948)
Good one!! Had to click on it...
