I'd much prefer 3B to 3A.
Ha, now Sean will have to use percentages in the crystal ball feature.
I think this is great... Really powerful feature to be able to read VIP content from all 247 contributors.
One possible variation to option 3B... Why not have a check box, similar to the VIP check box now, and allow the poster to decide if the post can be read by all VIP subscribers, or only those from his home board? Set the default to home board only, basically the 3B option as it is proposed... However, if the poster opens it to all, thats up to the individual?
Or to take it a step further... When creating a new thread, the OP decides if the content is for all VIP or just home board... Then all responses are the same... To all or home board only.
Lets have our cake and eat it too...
My first reaction was, 3a would be fun. There are a lot of connected people not employed by the 24/7 network. I've also always liked the fan barometers. But the more I think about it, that could be taking it too far. I can envision half our board being made up of topics concerning what other boards are talking and bitching about. I can also envision a scenario where certain people only post things to antagonize opposing fan bases. It could serve to make our boards unreadable. I'm not sure how the mods here could control all of that.
If 3A gets implemented, 247 might as well get rid of the user star ratings. Overall, I'm indifferent to A or B. Both have their plusses and minuses.
Another vote for 3B. I can only imagine how many pissing matches will be started if everyone can see what every other rival fanbase says about their team "behind closed doors".
3a. The inability of non-vip members to post in vip threads will help negate the trolling.

3B is my vote...I like the ability to keep our comments within the fanbase, especially considering how heavily scrutinzed each one of us Staters are. People take our posts and run of to their boards, tBB, Twitter, etc..
I'd like to keep our "delusions" to ourselves on occasion

Why not just an option at the bottom like already exists?

I like 3b the best as well. Great concept.

I love 247sports and 247sports loves me.
Interesting idea. My question would be: who would click on that option? I'd personally tend to default to showing posts to Lions247 subscribers only.
I don't know how the use would evolve. I could envision more of a national or regional discussion between boards. Maybe certain general-topic paid threads. We might want to talk with other schools to see how a target recruit's visit went to another school, ask someone in Alabama about a HS kid's performance on a weekend, or discuss upcoming games.
But clearly, we like the Lions-only topic option, too.
My thoughts exactly
I think 3B would be what I'd prefer. I think that 3A would create a lot of cross-board crap that would be better avoided, even if other sites couldn't post on our VIP threads.
My question is if it's not broke why fix it. you'll never satisfiy everyone.

These new side ads are killing my ability to view the website. And no I can't install an ad blocker here at work.
EDIT: Working again now. Thanks!
