I thought I read that they have 10 days to transfer which would basically put the date at August 2nd...just a few days before camp starts.

Huge. I considered the class of 2012 to be completely gone. Keeping Lewis, Stanko, Kiley and Bench already exceeds my expectations.

  • I'm really surprised about Fortt staying. Not that there's ever been a whisper of him being disgruntled with anything, but more because he is entering his 3rd year of eligibility and is not truly pegged as a starter because of the great play from Carson. He seemed like a candidate to transfer to a major program that is thin at MLB and start from day 1 and have two years to showcase himself.

That being said, he will certainly see a lot of the field this year and maybe even work his way past Carson. Solid chance he takes Mauti's spot on the outside next year too...

Man, I love these guys for their passion for PSU.

  • You got to realize that it would be tough for a lot of these guys to uproot in a heart beat from a community that they've developed lots of friendships and bonds with including girlfriends.

  • I would anticipate that now any of the talk about 5th year seniors being asked to leave after this year will end. We will probably need these guys for depth considering we can only sign 15 for the next couple of years.

There are ZERO known transferring players at this time per SportsCenter. Kevin Blanchard's HS coach has been contacted by 10 schools, including Oklahoma.

We also know Redd has been contacted by USCw.

I'd love to see Silas stand up and say, "I'm staying" at B1G media days in front of the whole CFB world.

According to Joe Schad on ESPiN's Mike & Mike this morning, standard NCAA protocol will allow players to transfer without having to sit for as long as the university is under a bowl ban.

This means that there will be the threat of any player transferring for the next four years. In essence they are all free agents with one year contracts. The character and mettle of this program will be tested each and every season.

Massive walk on OT from Texas. Actually higher on the DC than a couple of our scholarship guys.

  • This question has nothing to do with the topic, does anyone know how many players travel to the away games?

This can't be right - the way I read it yesterday was that the free agency only applies for the 2012-2013 year. Afterwards, it's business as usual in terms of transfers, including having to sit out and being applied to the other school's scholarship limit. Otherwise, what the hell is the purpose of a LOI?

I heard this same thing. The way I understand it is that CURRENT players can up and go whenever they want during the 4 years of bowl bans. I think that the current class and future classes will be locked in under normal rules since they will know what the situation is before signing.

If that is incorrect, please let me know.

Under this situation, O'Brien is going to have some pressure to win right off the bat. Losing and poor coaching will completely obliterate the team with people wanting to get out of Dodge.

  • One thing I never really thought about...loyalty from current players could really impact recruits. We know AB said he was still committed but he said that very shortly after the news. However, if he sees people stay on the team, it will be easier for him to become more firm in his decision, and it may help Hack as well.
