people may disagree with BOB's decision, but i think the timing of the decision will only help the offense gain some consistency, especially since they are learning a new, more complicated system. Plus, if McGloin still sucks come Big Ten play we'll see PJ get his shot anyhow.

One thing that stands out in BOB's quotes is the getting us out of bad plays. I'm a huge fan of execution and Joe's teams did it well for years, but the offense needs that ability going forward in today's game. I'm looking forward to that over the next few years and hopefully it will translate into some more points then we are used to.

I believe McGloin fits well in what I perceive will be the offense going forward. Also, if McGloin doesn't feel the pressure or hear the footsteps behind him, maybe he'll be less inclined to try to force that occasional bad ball. Third, I hope against hope that the phrase "not letting up" continues to refer to his on field efforts and not his sometime caustic interviews.

Agree with the decision based on what I have seen... This decision does not say that McGloin is a great QB, only that he is the best we have at running this offense right now. If he continues to struggle in big games and PJ continues to improve - PJ may get his shot.. But as a poster said above - I am hoping he gets it (and with the new or should I just say with coaching) and understands his limitations and plays within himself and has a successful season..

my beef is not with his ability or lack thereof, heck, I want him to win all the games and bring PSU to the promise land. Its his arrogance and character flaws that really bothers me. I remember very well last year after he threw an interception and Joe was trying to talk to him and he looked at him with disdain, just wanting to get away from the man - that just did it for me. Here is the man who was his biggest supporter and he still shits on him after he died by criticizing the "old regime".

Maybe I am reading too much into this, Stank did not embellish his statement by mentioning McGloin, rather a blanket statement regarding any quarterback. If McGloin don't get knockout this season, I consider this his personal success.
