Great article Jeff. Mauti maybe my favorite and possibly the most impactful player (off the field) we have ever witnessed.

I hope we see Mauti again at PSU coaching after his All-Pro NFL career is done.

I feel so bad for a kid like him. His legend will forever be remembered, not for the wins and losses, but for the integrity and character he has for openly stating his passion and desire for this University and football program. He was there when we needed somebody to step up to the plate and rally the troops. He is Penn State!

I agree that Mauti helped to rally the Penn State fan base when so many adults needed that motivation to believe. We are fortunate that he was here at the time to lead even though he deserved better from the NCAA. He also became the player identifiable to outside fan bases and anyone with a heart on the inequity of punishing players. God bless you Michael and thank you.

One thought on how this latest injury affects Mauti's NFL prospects.... I understand and agree with others that a third knee injury is a major red flag to GMs. The only silver lining is that the injury was caused by (illegal) contact. It was basically bad luck. Anyone who took that hit would be injured. If it was non-contact it would be even more of a red flag and harder to downplay.

That should give the prospects visiting a true taste how special PSU is.

Idk man. He can't get the medical redshirt because of the amount of game he's played this year. He would be apply for a special waiver from the NCAA, but since he's already played 11 of 12 games this year, I doubt they'd grant it to him and let him play another year.
