  • Apparently is an under the radar prospect that just blew UP the Nike Combine in Texas... He has a few offers, but not many. Check out his numbers in this article. 4.42 40, 41 inch vert, 3.87 shuttle... Kid is about to blow up, and I was just wondering what people's thoughts were on him... He is so far under the radar that a recruit search yields no results lol. BOB and Mac talked about getting into GA and TX in various interviews... Well this seems like the perfect opportunity to score a quality prospect in an area that is so talent rich that he may be getting looked over- at a position of need, he's a DB! Just a thought. Check out this article. Unfortunately, its from SCUM, I mean ESPN... But at least it was a Nike event. Gotta love Nike nowadays...

Edit: Check that, he doesn't have an offer yet. He is hearing from Baylor, Tulsa, and LA Tech... And says Arkansas is his dream school... I like this competition if that's the case...

  • Film...

Edit: Actually love his film... I know it's a long shot that we will look at him, but if BOB and Co. are serious about getting into TX, this seems like as good a shot as any... Kid can play and he's totally under the radar right now... Question is for how long though...

  • Based on the metrics, we'd be calling him the next Sam McGuffie if he had impressive offensive film. McGuffie is 5'10" (contrary to the HS report of 6'0") and registered a 4.32 (40) and 41" (V).

Nah, check the film Wonka, hes a darn good corner. Breaks on the ball, good ball skills, and speed is legit from the film... Surprised he has no offers. But I expect him to blow up now...

There is no doubt that the kid is a nice "little" athlete with the times and stats he put up at the SPARQ camp. He may very well be a good enough corner to garner some scholarship offers. But just because you can run a fast 40 and jump out of the gym doesn't mean that most of our far reaching (CA, FL, TX, etc.) offers aren't going to be offered due to what they did on tape, ie. what their skills are as a football player.

I would like to think that if we are making stabs at some kids that are way out of our recruiting footprint that we are shooting a little bit more for the stars (sort of like the DT from CA). Whether he blows up or not remains to be seen... but I would imagine that there are alot of DB prospects that will get a look before an obscure kid in Texas does.

  • How does a guy like this slip under the radar. Along with his measurables, he has good ball skills and seems strong for his size. The kid needs a big-time offer!

    Domo

  • I usually don't believe posted 40 times, but this is a case where I do. He is simply a burner. One of the reasons he may not be on the radar is that it appears he doesn't play offense. I am certain if he performed comparably on offense he would be as well known as Ryan Switzer. Speed kills and this kid has it. Blockning that number of kicks is ridiculous.

That's not my point. I'm talking about similar size, speed and vertical. All that is missing is the unbelievable offensive film. To be fair, the defensive footage looked good. The metrics can't be coached up as well as football technique. He could be special.

  • DBS=overrated.

Lol in all seriousness we already got one very solid db. Have some patience, we are after some good ones IMO. (Boyd, Hicks, Butler)

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

Seriously? You're retrying that approach with him? Lol

  • There is no way we keep all the kids at WR we currently have - believe that one or two from this past class will end up in the secondary (Williams and/or Golden?)

Boyd is being recruited as a WR.. Butler hasn't given us the time of day, and Hicks is waiting for an OSU offer... We need more DB offers out IMO...

  • You think we should carry 30 DBS on our roster.

Be patient. It's march, we're Doing fine so far.

I mean we already have a 4 star(rivals) cb locked up.

That we can have 19 DB offers out right now and you will still say it isn't enough and we need to offer these 2 star kids who are ready to BLOW UP combines. Its not even one or two guys, its a well established trend. I want more offers too but dear baby Jesus.

I agree Ross D helps out a lot. And I am not complaining about BOB in the slightest. I just think that the four DB offers that are out right now should double... We need to cover our bases.

Nah, not at all... We only have 4 out. That's my gripe... No where near 19... LB offers on the other hand... Even WR offers double our DB offers... And thats the truth.

We need 3 LBs and they are very important to the defense. I have no problem with any of those offers out. DBs are the least important position on a defense, and even though we will still show much more man, this will still be a zone-based defense. The offers we have out are nice, and we have been doing our due dilligence on others. I would like more, but no reason to start offering everyone. And that's the truth.

I know how many we have out, I can count. In fact I keep a composite list that shows by position and by state and stretches all three sites. I am set, and that's the truth. However I sometimes doubt your ability to read. It doesn't matter how many we will offer, you will continuosly bitch and moan that we haven't offered certain "athletes". We all saw it last year even after we had filled up, hell even in threads where yo said we needed to start having better roster management. That goes directly against better roster management, and that's the truth.

That's what I meant. And that's the truth.
