I was told you're not a true Penn Stater until you do it... especially before your freshman year ends. Wearing my whiteout shirt to the top!

I always wante to do this. Really upset I never did it when I was there. Might have to be something I have to do some weekend this summer
Speaking I hiking in the state college area, has anyone ever hiked seven mountains? I think that would be an awesome time as well

My son and I climb Mt Nittany after every game we attend. We do it to let the traffic clear out before we head home. It's a nice view of the stadium and a very nice way to pass a few hours in the afternoon..

Cool tradition. How do you get to Mt. Nittany from Beaver Stadium (I assume you park near the base of the hill), and how long does the hike take round trip?

We took a CATA bus (the M bus I think... the one that goes to Nittany Mall) out to Lemont & got off at a stop right at the corner of Pike St. & Mt. Nittany Rd. From there we just walked up Mt. Nittany Rd. to the very end where the trail began (there was parking if you just want to drive there). The terrain was pretty rugged on the way up to the top but it's a short hike up. Once you get to the top there's a variety of rails you can take that encircle the top of the Mountain. The trails on top of the mountain are much more smooth & easy to hike than the trails going up & down. Depending on whether or not you hike all the trails or just some can vary how long it takes. We did the entire Blue trail which was the entire outer loop with all 7 overlooks & it took about 3 hours. Definitely worth it for the views of Happy Valley & it's a pretty fun time especially if you're with friends or family.

I didn't do it until my senior year. I climbed Mt. Nittany during my "senior week".

I had to carry a keg up Mt. Nittany with 8 others during pledging, but it was a pretty darn good time once up there.

I never knew there were trails on Mt Nittany. Of course I was too lazy during college to bother!
...and if you're not down with that, then I got 2 words for ya.."suck it!!"
