IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Two University of Iowa wrestlers have been suspended from the team after they were arrested for illegally hunting rabbits on campus.
Athletic director Gary Barta said Wednesday that freshmen Alex Meyer and Connor Ryan were arrested Tuesday by campus police. Barta says they used BB guns and air rifles during the hunt.
Barta says both were suspended indefinitely and will face disciplinary action through university and athletic department policies.
Meyer is an 18-year-old from suburban Des Moines who wrestles at 174 pounds. Ryan is an 18-year-old from Bettendorf who wrestles at 141 and 149. Neither has wrestled in a match so far this season for Iowa, which is 3-0.
Meyer's mother, Lorna, said she had no details on her son's arrest. A message for Ryan wasn't immediately returned.

On a wrestling side note I understand that the kid from Colgate that has won 3 national titles at 3 different weight classes has moved to David Taylor's class. He is trying to be the 1st to win 4 titles in 4 different classes.

One time I shot a penny in my garage (I know, real safe, hah) with a pellet and it split the thing in half. The thing had power.

I used to hunt rabbits on old main lawn for fun. Amazing what a sling shot can do, especially when u ran out of meal points.
Dake also beat Taylor in freestyle, not folk style wrestling. Taylor's typically owned him in all their folk style matches.

He beat him in free style for the olympic trials earlier this year. Wasn't the all-star whatever it was called meet that Dake won a couple weeks ago folkstyle?

Yeah, your right, he beat him in folkstyle at the NWC tourney....Went into Double OT and Dake won from a ride out in 2OT.
